Buccaneers-49ers Weather Report: Rain Could Make For Sloppy Football in Week 14

The Tampa Bay BuccaneersSan Francisco 49ers weather report may indicate we’re in for some sloppy football on Sunday afternoon. With both teams eyeing to improve their playoff standing, let’s take a look at how rain may affect the outcome of the game.

Buccaneers-49ers Weather Report

Per the Weather Channel, rain showers are expected to touch down on Levi’s Stadium just before the opening kick is scheduled. The showers are predicted to start in San Francisco around 1:30 and persist throughout the entirety of the game.

The 49ers remain 3.5-point favorites over Tom Brady‘s Buccaneers after opening at the same betting line, but the over/under has continuously moved down with rain in the forecast. Opening at 41.5, the over/under currently sits at 37 (Per DraftKings).

After losing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a potential season-ending foot injury, the 49ers were linked to Baker Mayfield throughout the week. But the 49ers have seemingly made the choice to stick with Brock Purdy — who begin the season as the third quarterback on their depth chart — for the time being.

In relief of Garoppolo in Week 13, Purdy showed he’s capable of executing the offense just fine. He completed 25 of 37 passes for 210 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the 33-17 win over the Miami Dolphins.

“Yeah, it’s been real good. Nothing’s really been different,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said in his post-practice press conference via Niners Wire. “It’s a big difference not having Jimmy in there, but you haven’t felt like a rookie’s coming in or anything. He handled Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday very well and I think the players and we expected him to, but you never know when a guy gets the first week where everyone’s looking at him, sometimes they get nervous and then the players start to look at each other if it’s bad, but it wasn’t that case at all. He was same guy as he has been and we expect that to stay.”

Perhaps the Buccaneers finally got their signature moment last week after struggling mightily offensively for most of the season. Down 16-3 against the New Orleans Saints in the fourth quarter, Brady marked a late charge, leading the team down the field for a patented game-winning touchdown drive to win 17-16. At 6-6, the Buccaneers sit atop the lowly NFC South, and will look to build on last week’s triumph.

Thanks to the weather report and other factors, it’s fair not to expect much scoring in what could be a preview of a future playoff matchup between the 49ers and Buccaneers. Keep an eye on the Buccaneers-49ers forecast and any last minute changes to the odds.
