Early NFL Thanksgiving Lines: Bills, Cowboys Big Favorites After Big Wins

The Buffalo Bills are 9.5-point favorites at the Detroit Lions, and the Dallas Cowboys are 8.5-point home favorites against the New York Giants in the early NFL Thanksgiving lines. Be sure to check out our OddsShopper tool for the best NFL Week 12 odds.

Buffalo is in the rare position of playing consecutive games in a stadium that is not its home stadium. The Bills defeated the Cleveland Browns 31-23 on Sunday at Ford Field in a game moved to Detroit because of excessive snowfall around Buffalo.

“When you go through a shared experience like this, it can bring a team closer together,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said, according to The Associated Press.

The Bills played on Thanksgiving last season and defeated the New Orleans Saints 31-6 in the night game.

Dallas is coming off a 40-3 win at the Minnesota Vikings. The Cowboys have failed to cover 11 of their past 13 Thanksgiving games, and are 5-8 straight up with three consecutive losses, including 36-33 in overtime to the Las Vegas Raiders last season.

“It’s not really hard (to get ready),” Cowboys running back Tony Pollard told NFL.com after gaining 189 yards from scrimmage against the Vikings. “Playing Thanksgiving. National television. Everybody going to be watching, so it’s really you have to keep yourself calm until the moment.”

The Lions defeated the Giants 31-18 on Sunday for their third straight win.

“These guys are playing their [butts] off and they’re starting to figure out a way to win,” Detroit coach Dan Campbell said, according to the AP.

Detroit is 7-6 against the spread (ATS) in its past 13 on Thanksgiving but 4-9 straight up after a 16-14 loss to the Chicago Bears last season.

The Vikings host the late game and are 3-point favorites in against the New England Patriots in the NFL Thanksgiving lines. The Patriots defeated the New York Jets 10-3 Sunday on an 84-yard punt return touchdown with five seconds remaining.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do in a short amount of time,” Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks told the AP.

Other noteworthy lines for NFL Week 12 (via FanDuel) have the Miami Dolphins coming off their bye as an 11.5-point home favorite against the Houston Texans, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also coming off their bye as a 3-point road favorite at the Cleveland Browns, and the Green Bay Packers visiting the Philadelphia Eagles as a 6.5-point underdog.
