Rams vs. 49ers Best Player Prop Bet: Cam Akers Ready to Show Out on Monday Night Football (October 3)

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting the Los Angeles Rams as the 49ers are looking to avoid dropping to 1-3. In a game featuring two NFC West juggernauts, this Monday Night Football player prop bet will back Rams running back Cam Akers.

Best NFL Player Prop | Monday Night Football Week 4

Cam Akers O/U 12.5 Rush Attempts

Akers had numerous question marks leading up to this year. He tore his Achilles before the 2021 season, and everybody assumed he would miss the entire campaign. Most Achilles injuries sit a player out for 8 to 12 months. Akers made a remarkable recovery and returned to action in Week 18 after less than six months.

Fast forward to 2022. Akers didn’t see much work in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. He ran the ball three times and played on only 12% of the offensive plays. Last week against the Arizona Cardinals, Akers had his most efficient game in a while. He had 12 carries for 61 yards, and backup running back Darrell Henderson Jr. saw his fewest number of snaps (24).

There is some concern about Akers heading into this game, as he fumbled at the goal line late in the fourth quarter last week. However, Rams head coach Sean McVay will continue to feed his franchise running back and rebuild his confidence.

This game projects to be close and low scoring. The 49ers offense is struggling, and it will not get any easier now that their All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams will miss due to a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 3. If the Rams can jump out to an early lead, Akers should get the ball in a positive game script.

Last week on Sunday Night Football, the Denver Broncos‘ two-headed monster of Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon III ran the ball 27 times for 84 yards. Both offenses failed to get anything going, and Denver decided to lean on their running game to pull out the victory.

Akers ran the ball at least 13 times in the Rams’ four playoff games of last season, including the Super Bowl. After seeing his highest snap percentage last week, Akers should see an uptick in workload in a game the Rams should control from the opening kickoff.

Best NFL Player Prop: Cam Akers OVER 12.5 Rush Attempts (-110, DraftKings)
