Rams vs. Panthers Betting Odds & Prediction: Los Angeles to Rebound Against Struggling Panthers (Oct 16)

The Rams are off to a disappointing 2-3 start, but on the bright side, they are still just one game back of the 49ers for the NFC West lead. They also have a potential get-right spot this week against the Panthers. Carolina is dealing with injuries at quarterback and they have just fired head coach Matt Rhule.

Let’s look at both sides of the ball in this matchup to figure out which team will prevail.

Rams vs. Panthers: Week 6 NFL Betting Picks & Predictions

Rams vs. Panthers Betting Odds

Spread: Rams -10
Over/Under: 42 points
Location: SoFi Stadium

TV: FOX

Rams Still in the Hunt Despite Slow Start

The biggest reason for the Rams’ slow start has been their offense, which is averaging just 16.0 points per game. Their offensive line isn’t helping matters, which has resulted in Matthew Stafford being sacked 21 times through five games. Last season, he was only sacked a total of 30 times across 17 games.

The Rams’ only reliable source for production has been Cooper Kupp, who has 49 receptions for 527 yards and four touchdowns. Our NFL Player Props Tool has him projected for 108 receiving yards in this game.

The Panthers have not been great defensively, allowing an average of 24.4 points per game. They were dismantled in Week 5 by the 49ers, who scored 37 points in a blowout win. Carolina has been particularly bad at defending the run, allowing the sixth-most rushing yards per game in the league.

Panthers Woes to Continue with Walker

The Panthers’ offense has been almost as bad as the Rams’, averaging 18.6 points per game. Now they will have to deal with a new quarterback after Baker Mayfield suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 5. P.J. Walker is expected to take his place. Walker has two touchdowns passes and eight interceptions for his entire career.

The Rams’ defense hasn’t been able to get much pressure on opposing quarterbacks, generating just 10 sacks through five games. They do have four interceptions, while allowing just six touchdown passes through the air. Given the Panthers’ question marks at quarterback, look for the Rams’ defense to have one of its best performances of the season.

Rams vs. Panthers Pick

As disappointing as the Rams have been, it’s difficult to envision them playing poorly given this matchup with Carolina. Walker’s turnover issues should plague a Panthers’ offense that already has problems generating points. Look for the Rams to focus their efforts on slowing down Christian McCaffrey, who has played well with 512 total yards and three touchdowns. While this is a pretty big spread, the Panthers could have problems even reaching double-digit points scored, so look for the Rams to pull off a lopsided win at home.

Rams vs. Panthers Prediction: Rams -10 at BetMGM.
