Tiger Woods Genesis Invitational Odds Surge After Impressive First Round

Tiger Woods made his return to the PGA Tour on Thursday afternoon at the Genesis Invitational. No one knew quite what to expect after a long layoff, but he showed he still has something left in the tank. Woods energized a jam-packed gallery on the 18th hole at Riviera Country club by knocking in his third-straight birdie to finish the round at an impressive -2. The latest Tiger Woods Genesis Invitational odds show that he has a much higher probability of winning than he did coming into the round.

Tiger Woods Genesis Invitational Odds Surge After First Round

Per DraftKings, the latest Tiger Woods odds have him at +10000. He began the tournament as a +15000 underdog. Woods was also sitting at +150 to make the cut and play into the weekend. He’s now positioned to make those bettors happy with another successful round on Friday.

The ball striking appeared to be no issue for Woods on Thursday, but he sported a significant limp, and will undoubtedly have some soreness tomorrow after getting a full round under his belt.

“As you watch that PNC, I was able to play out of the cart and hit shots and do whatever I wanted, but I just didn’t have the endurance in my ankle, so we’ve been working on that,” Woods said before the first round per ESPN. “I can still hit shots, but it’s the walking endurance that’s hard. That’s something that we’ve had to work on — walking distances on the beach, just basically stress it out but also be able to recover by the next day and see how it is inflammation-wise and then keep practicing. I may have overdone it a couple of times here or there, but here I am.”

The last time we saw Tiger Woods play in a PGA Tournament, he missed the cut in last year’s Open Championship. He now looks poised to play into the weekend, and perhaps there may be some more magic in his swing, after all.

The latest Tiger Woods Genesis Invitational odds still show him as a heavy underdog, but he’s certainly exceeding expectations through the first round of the competition.
