WNBA Picks Today: Sky vs. Sun & Aces vs. Storm Game 3 Playoff Predictions (Sunday, September 4)

After a three day break, the 2022 WNBA postseason is set to continue this afternoon. The remaining four playoff teams will all take the floor today as the semifinals roll on. Check out some key takeaways from the two series so far, along with the best way to bet this afternoon’s game 3s.

WNBA Picks Today: Round 2 Playoff Betting Predictions

WNBA Pick: Sky vs. Sun Game 3

The second game of this series played out a bit differently than game 1. In the first game, Connecticut’s defense held strong against Chicago’s secondary options and they were able to pull out a 5-point win. Last game, however, the Sky led for the entire game and they started to really pull away as early as the 2nd quarter. Chicago ended up winning by 8 in that one, and the game was truly more lopsided than the final score indicated.

Candace Parker had another great game and she got some major production from her teammates in game 2. Every Sky starter scored in double-digits, and each of them had a positive net rating. Courtney Vandersloot stepped it up in this game after putting up a dud in the first game of the series. The Sun couldn’t seem to match the Sky’s energy throughout the entire game and they were limited by Chicago’s great defensive play.

Coming out strong when their backs are against the wall has been a theme for this Sky team throughout the playoffs, and it was no different last game. When betting this game, it will be tough considering it’s basically a pick ’em. The best bet in a situation like this is to take the team that has the best player in the series. In this particular series that player has been Candace Parker, who has been posting historic numbers. Feel comfortable taking Chicago ML in this one and expect the Sky to steal their first away game like Connecticut did in game 1.

WNBA Playoff Prediction: Sky ML (-105)

WNBA Pick: Aces vs. Storm Game 3

The injury report is clean for game 3 of the Aces/Storm series outside of Dearica Hamby’s continued absence. With all of the stars available and ready to duke it out, this game should come down to the wire much like the first two games of the series.

Game 2 saw A’ja Wilson drop a ridiculous 33 points and 13 rebounds in the Vegas win. For the Storm, Breanna Stewart showed out per usual, dropping 32 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. The deciding factor in this game was guard play, an area where the Aces guards ultimately outperformed Seattle’s Sue Bird and Jewell Loyd. Kelsey Plum and Chelsea Gray combined for 37 points while Bird and Loyd came together for just 14 points on 4-15 from the field.

With the series shifting to Seattle, expect the Storm’s secondary options to match Stewart’s intensity in game 3. While the Aces are talented and Wilson had an awesome game last time out, take Seattle -1.5 in this one. They have a great home court advantage and their incredible defensive play should be very visible after getting three days off.

WNBA Playoff Prediction: Storm -1.5 (-110)
