WNBA PrizePicks Today: Target These Superstar Players

Brittney Griner More/Less 20.5 Points

This marks the first time the Phoenix Mercury will face the New York Liberty with Brittney Griner in the lineup. They lost the first bout on June 18 rather convincingly. Don’t expect Griner’s presence to change much — the Liberty have gone a strong 5-2 at home, and they’ll face a Mercury team looking for just their second road win this year.

Griner has a familiar face on the other side in Jonquel Jones — the Liberty forward charged with slowing down or limiting Mercury frontcourt production. Griner consistently struggled to hit 20 points when facing Jones when she played for the Sun, so there’s little concern that will suddenly change in tonight’s contest.

Courtney Vandersloot More/Less 12.5 Points

If we stay in this game, we’ll find another value spot — just on the other side of the matchup. Courtney Vandersloot has a favorable matchup against the Mercury backcourt and has gone over this number in two of her last three games. The sample size is a little larger moving farther back and reveals two things that have helped propel her over this mark consistently.

The first, a rather obvious one, is simply good shooting. Vandersloot has recorded more than 12.5 points in games where she’s taking shots and hitting them at a higher clip. Volume helps but hasn’t been necessary. The second one, one that can especially help her in this matchup against Phoenix, is getting to the charity stripe. If Vandersloot hits the free throw line at least four times, consider this cash in the bank.

Satou Sabally More/Less 9.5 Rebounds

It’s not anyone on the Dallas Wings’ fault tonight, but they are simply running into a buzzsaw. The Vegas Aces are unstoppable, and little changes with the venue or location of the game. Dallas has an incredible uphill matchup facing the Aces on the road, primarily in keeping up with Vegas on the scoreboard.

One undervalued area of attack to get action on would be the glass, as the matchups just don’t favor anyone on the Wings. Sabally comes off back-to-back games hitting double-digit rebounds, but neither opponent offers any true comparison to the Vegas frontcourt. Sabally can easily beat up on teams like the Mercury and Mystics but will find this road test too tough for ten boards.
