Best NBA Bets for Sunday: Clippers and Lakers Totals To Salivate Over

Another week in the Association has come and gone, and we are starting to get a better sense of who these teams are. Let’s try to use that knowledge to our advantage for a four-game slate on Sunday, Nov. 6. With that in mind, we’re going to look at the best NBA bets today

A pair of Los Angeles teams will be in action at home, which is where we will be focusing for today’s best bets. The Los Angeles Lakers welcome the Cleveland Cavaliers for a matinee matchup, while the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz will square off in the same arena later this evening.

Best NBA Bets Today

Cleveland Cavaliers (-4) at Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have won two of their last three games after opening the year 0-5, but it is important to reflect on how those victories occurred. The Lakers bested the Denver Nuggets in their second meeting in four days before following that up with an overtime win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Had it not been for an insane buzzer-beater from Matt Ryan at the end of regulation, the Lakers would have lost to a shorthanded Pelicans squad. The Lakers are 2-6 overall and 2-6 against the spread, and remain a bet-against team for the time being.

It is always important to check updated injury updates, but the Cavaliers (7-1) should take care of business against an inferior squad. They are 7-1 against the spread and rank second in the league with an average point differential of 11.6. Their defense is second in points per possession, and the offense sits in sixth.

With a spread just over one possession, give me Cleveland to eventually pull away from a struggling Los Angeles team.

Cavs at Lakers O/U 222.5

Staying in this matchup, I also like playing the total and relying on a pair of defense-first teams to help cash an Under ticket.

Truth be told, the Cavaliers have had the Over hit in five of their eight games to start the season. But their pace ranks 28th in the league and their defensive scoring average of 104.4 points per game sits in third. This current total would be the highest over/under Cleveland has had all season by 2.4 points.

The reason why the total is so high is because the Lakers actually rank second in pace through the early part of the season. Their average of 108.5 points per game ranks 25th, so it hasn’t led to a lot of offense. LA’s league-worst 3-point percentage of 28.3% has a lot to do with that.

I project a few points of value on this total, so give me the Under in this matinee matchup.

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers O/U 221

Let’s play another total in Los Angeles, as I see plenty of value in the Under for the nightcap between the Jazz and Clippers.

The Clippers (5-4) have been printing Under tickets this year, as eight of their nine games have finished Under the point total. They are surrendering 106.2 points per game, good for fourth in the league. But this Western Conference contender is also only averaging 102.3 points per outing, which ranks dead last in the league.

Utah has been a pleasant surprise at 7-3 overall, while finishing below the closing point total in six different games. This would be the lowest total of the season for the Jazz, but I really don’t believe it is low enough.
