The Golden State Warriors are set for a celebration on Tuesday night following their fourth NBA title in eight years season. They’ll host LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers after they conduct their banner raising ring ceremony to kick off their season. There’s a lot to unpack with the Warriors-Lakers odds in our continued NBA odds series, but more on that in a second.
Given how they remain one of the most talented teams in the NBA on paper, and that the Lakers are coming off a dismal performance last season, the Dubs will open as significant home favorites.
Warriors-Lakers Odds, Trends For NBA Opening Night
Warriors-Lakers spread: Warriors -6.5
Warriors-Lakers over/under: 225 points
Warriors-Lakers money line: Warriors -300, Lakers +240
Per BetMGM, at the time of this writing, the Warriors are 6.5 favorites over the Lakers, and are a heavy -300 favorite on the money line. Bettors are favoring the Warriors ahead of their banner night. 66% of bets and 67% of the money is on the Warriors at -6.5. 69% of bets and 78% of money is on the under, which is currently set at 224.5.
Since LeBron joined the Lakers, they are 0-4 against the spread on NBA Opening Night, and they’ll face a tall task of going up against a juggernaut on Tuesday.
James has been limited in practice with a foot issue, but by all accounts it looks like him and Anthony Davis — who’s been battling back soreness — will be on the floor against the Warriors.
“Our first two games are against two title contenders. It’s always good to spoil a ring night,” Davis said when speaking about opening the season against the Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.
The Lakers are certainly hoping for better production this season, and can make a huge statement with an upset win on Tuesday night.
