Updated 2022 College Football Championship Odds: Georgia Takes Over As Clear Favorite Following Alabama Loss to LSU

The whole College Football Playoff outlook was drastically turned around on Saturday. With the Georgia Bulldogs taking over as clear favorites, we’re going to take a look at the updated 2022 College Football Championship odds.

Coming into the day as favorites to reach the College Football Playoffs, both Clemson and Alabama likely blew their chances. Clemson was outplayed from he jump against Notre Dame, struggling to move the ball before eventually losing 35-14. Alabama suffered more of a gutting loss in their trip to The Bayou.

Seizing the opportunity to pull off the upset against the Crimson Tide, LSU head coach Brian Kelly went for a two-point conversion in OT, and was able to convert when quarterback Jayden Daniels found tight end Mason Taylor in the flat to seal the walk-off win.

After the turn of events that took place on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs are even heavier favorites to win the National Championship.

Tennessee came into Saturday as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation following their own upset win over Alabama earlier in the year. But Georgia took care of the Volunteers rather easily, using their stout defense along with a strong performance for quarterback Stetson Bennett.

In the 27-13 win, Bennett completed 17 of his 25 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns.

"Stetson is Stetson, he doesn't need motivation," receiver Ladd McConkey said to Athens Banner-Herald. "He just goes out there and has so many to prove it to day in and day out, he just goes out and plays and he's awesome. I'm so glad we have him."

The biggest threat to Georgia's chances to win back-to-back titles is currently the Ohio State Buckeyes, who have rolled in the early going of Big Ten play. The Buckeyes found themselves in a surprisingly tight battle with Northwestern, tied at 7-7 at halftime, but we're able to keep the Wildcats off the board in the second half before winning 21-7.

The Buckeyes ruined their chances to make a title run last season after losing to rival Michigan Wolverines for the first time since the 2011 season, and similarly, the game on November 26 against the Wolverines will likely decide who represents the Big Ten East in the Conference Championship.

Ohio State will put their undefeated record on the line next weekend when they take on the lowly Indiana Hoosiers at home. Nonetheless, this is where everyone big boy teams' 2022 College Football Championship odds are at the time of this writing.
