Justin Herbert Injury News: Fantasy Rankings with Chargers Quarterback Active vs. Jaguars (Sept 25)

Will the Los Angeles Chargers have quarterback Justin Herbert available for their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon?

After suffering an injury to his rib cartilage during the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Herbert is officially active for Week 3, and will be a game-time decision.

While the Chargers are reasonably cautious with the young star quarterback, it was reported by insider Ian Rapoport that he’s “pushing hard” to play on Sunday.

“I think so. When I say day-to-day, I believe that,” Chargers head coach Staley said Friday when asked about Herbert’s status. “I think that we’re prepared either way with the contingencies.

“I think that our coaching staff has done a good job with that. Our players are prepared for that,” Staley added. “That’s just kind of the nature of what’s happening right now.”

Justin Herbert Fantasy Football Ranking

Fantasy football owners are undoubtedly hoping to have Herbert in their line ups on Sunday. So far on the season, Herbert ranks as the seventh best quarterback in an ESPN PPR fantasy league. But we have him ranked among the game’s elites for Week 3, given a favorable matchup against the Jaguars.

For Week 3, Herbert ranks as the fifth quarterback in our NFL Start/Sit Fantasy Football Rankings, behind just Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts and Lamar JacksonHis DFS projections can be found here.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Herbert has thrown for 613 yards and six touchdowns. He has just one interception on the year.

If Herbert is unable to play Sunday, the Chargers will turn to veteran signal-caller Chase Daniel to handle the QB1 duties.
