Maryland Online Sports Betting: Where and When State Launches Mobile Options

Legal online sports betting in Maryland officially begins 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 23rd.

Barstool, BetMGMCaesarsDraftKingsFanDuelPointsBet and BetRivers will take bets on day one, with BetFanatics, Betfred and betPARX expected to join over the next several months. Pre-launch offers are currently available and will show up once betting starts. A full-list is available below.

Users must be 21 years or older to place a bet.

Maryland online sports betting sign-up offers

Each app is available for download after taking first wagers during a brief testing window a few days before the official launch. The “controlled demonstration” ran Monday, Nov. 21st from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST, according to the Maryland Lottery.

Apps are permitted to allow users’ withdrawal of account funds at any time.

It marks the end of a two-year wait for online sports betting in the Old Line State.

The Sports Wagering Application Review Commission is currently weighing licenses for 11 additional online sportsbooks. Maryland’s law allows up to 60 total.

Marylanders legalized sports betting in 2020, overwhelming passing a ballot proposition that authorized in-person and online wagering.

In-person wagering began in December 2021 and is available at the state’s six casinos, including MGM National Harbor outside of Washington, D.C. and the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore.

Each is partnered with an online sports betting app.

By law Maryland could licenses 47 total retail sportsbooks, including at professional sports stadiums. Applications from the Washington Commanders and the Baltimore Ravens are pending with the commission.

Maryland’s online launch is the latest state to legalize sports betting. The most recent state was Kansas. Ohio is set to launch in January.
