Jonathan Taylor Injury: Are Deon Jackson and Zack Moss Fantasy Football Options?

It’s been a frustrating year to be a Jonathan Taylor fantasy football owner, to say the least. After being drafted No. 1 overall in many fantasy drafts, Taylor has failed to live up to the billing, and will now likely be out for the remainder of the season. After suffering an ankle injury in the wild loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, the Colts will now lean on Deon Jackson and Zack Moss in their backfield.

Given the situation, let’s look at the Deon JacksonZack Moss fantasy football value and see which one fantasy managers should be prioritizing on the waiver wire for Week 16.

Zack Moss, Deon Jackson Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets For Week 16

Zack Moss was traded to the Colts in a midseason deal that sent Nyheim Hines to the Buffalo Bills. But wasn’t heavily used until Jonathan Taylor went down against the Vikings. After the injury, Moss was impressive running 24 times for 81 yards. He played in 67% of the team’s offensive snaps.

When Jonathan Taylor went down with injury earlier in the season, Deon Jackson filled in as a second running back option, and it appears as though he’ll remain in that role for the remainder of the season. In Sunday’s loss, he was out-snapped by Moss (playing 32% of snaps). But he was able to run for 55 yards and haul in a TD catch.

While Jackson will give the Colts a different look than Moss and appears to have some pass-catching value, the stronger option here is Moss for the remaining three weeks of the season.

Next week, the Colts will take on the Los Angeles Chargers, who figure to be a particularly strong matchup for Zack Moss, ranking 27th in the NFL in fantasy football points allowed to opposing running backs. LA just allowed Titans running back Derick Henry 101 rushing yards on 24 carries in Week 15.

For Week 16, Zack Moss would figure to be the better fantasy football play over Deon Jackson and could have a chance to make a huge difference for any team’s fantasy playoff run.
