Broncos-Seahawks Monday Night Football Odds & Trends: Public Heavily Backing Russell Wilson in Seattle Return

Russell Wilson is all set to make his return to Seattle tonight.

Ahead of the Monday Night Football matchup between Wilson’s Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks, we’ve seen one of the most lopsided betting trends of any Week 1 matchup.

As it stands, 92% of spread money is on the Broncos on BetMGM, and 88% of the spread money is on the Broncos at DraftKings. The current spread sits at Broncos -6.5.

Despite going on the road, it’s no surprise that the Broncos are heavy favorites, or that bettors are flocking to take them for our first Monday Night Football game.

After all, the Seahawks are replacing Wilson with last year’s backup, Geno Smith, and still have the same holes on their roster that resulted in them missing out on the postseason last year. Still, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll thinks his team will surprise some people this season.

Specifically, Carroll doesn’t think it’s fair to use the word “rebuild” when talking about what the Seahawks are doing this season.

“I don’t feel like that at all,” Carroll said. “I don’t feel like any part of any of that is what’s true, other than the fact that’s what people think. I’m not in that business; I’m in the business of helping these guys get ready to play.”

Regardless of whether or not Seattle is in a true rebuild, Wilson is beyond happy that he’s now with a team that’s all-in on competing for a Super Bowl this season. And he’s hoping he can make a statement on Monday night.

“I wasn’t just going to go anywhere,” said Wilson, who was traded to the Broncos in March. “I felt like this team can be great.”
