The Green Bay Packers’ decline is mainly focused on Aaron Rodgers and the offense, when in reality the defense has been just as anemic. Stopping the run has been the Achilles heel thus far for Green Bay. The Packers will again be without linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, who is listed as doubtful, and Rashan Gary, who was placed on IR. Those two are arguably Green Bay’s two best run stoppers.
Rookie Quay Walker is the middle linebacker for the Packers. His lack of experience is showing, as he ranks 73rd out of 82 gradable NFL linebackers at playing the run. Another significant decline in performance has come from defensive tackle Kenny Clark, as he ranks 77th out of 133 defensive linemen against the run. Darnell Savage has lined up in the box for the Packers as the eighth man, and he also hasn’t performed very well, ranking 62nd in run defense out of 80 safeties.
The Eagles offensive line is arguably the best in the NFL, led by All-Pro center Jason Kelce. Impressively, the Eagles have three linemen who rank in the top 25 in run blocking. Jalen Hurts is a threat and will create a lot of attention. The Packers will have to dedicate one man strictly to him, which could open some room for Miles Sanders, who is averaging 4.9 yards per carry and has six touchdowns rushing. In a contract year, bet on Sanders adding one more touchdown to the resume in prime time.
