Best NHL Player Props Tonight: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield Bring Sneaky Value for Canadiens

There are just two games on this Tuesday night schedule but still plenty of valuable player NHL prop options on the board. Let’s dive in and grab the best value with the help of OddsShopper.

Tuesday NHL Player Props | Nov. 22

*Odds for NHL player props come from FanDuel

Cole Caufield Prop: Anytime goal scorer (+134)

He has the shortest odds of the anytime goal scorers listed on FanDuel, but in this matchup, it’s best to pick the Canadiens’ best goal scorer and let it ride.

Indeed, Cole Caufield has largely made good on the pre-season hype following a strong finish to the 2021-22 campaign as he’s netted 11 goals in just 18 games on the season including two against the Flyers his last time out. Like with the Flyers, the diminutive sniper gets another fine matchup against a badly-struggling Buffalo Sabres defense.

The Sabres have dropped eight in a row while surrendering a hefty 4.75 goals per game during their skid. After a strong start to the season, they now find themselves sitting 29th in overall defense. While the advanced metrics are more favorable for Buffalo, they also sit 30th on the penalty kill which is no helping their cause.

Thanks to 72 shots on goal on the season, Caufield’s 15.3% shooting rate remains a fair number for a goal-scorer of his caliber. Don’t expect any crazy shooting-rare regression moving forward, if any at all.

I smell a high-scoring affair tonight in Montreal and would be shocked if Caufield didn’t get in on the action.

Kirby Dach Prop: Over 0.5 assists (+104)

If we’re banking on Caufield to find twine then it makes plenty of sense to handcuff him to Kirby Dach in an assist prop.

Of course, Dach is now skating with Caufield and Nick Suzuki on the Canadiens’ top line and top power-play unit, giving him ample opportunity to keep rolling as a member of that group.

The Habs’ top trio has found plenty of chemistry since being put together as Dach has recorded four assists in his last four games, collecting at least one helper in three of those four contests. He has two even-strength assists and two of the power-play variety in that time as well so he’s been getting it done in both scenarios.

Dach is now up to 12 assists in 18 games, but after just two apples over his first eight games, he has 10 in as many games.

He and his linemates are red-hot and set to take on one of the league’s worst defenses and penalty kill, so let’s unleash both Caufield and Dach props at plus money.

Jacob Trouba Prop: Under 2.5 shots on goal (-118)

There’s no doubt Jacob Trouba gets a lot of pucks on goal but this Kings team just does not give up many shots on net.

Entering this one, Trouba is averaging 3.17 shots on goal per game for the season, obviously a substantial number for any player let alone a defenseman. However, the Kings also sit seventh in shots against per game at 29.4 while also sitting 10th in terms of shot attempts against per game at five-on-five play.

For Trouba, he’s also seen a dip in ice time this season and has skated 20:33 or less in three of his last four games. He is getting second-unit power-play minutes but it logging only a little more than a minute per game on the man advantage this season.

The Kings’ defense has been far better than what the surface numbers tell you — they sit 23rd overall — and have suppressed shots at a rate well within the top 10 so let’s see if they can hold Trouba under three shots tonight.
