2022 BMW PGA Championship Odds: Rory McIlroy is Favored After Taking Shot At LIV Golf Members

After winning the FedEx Cup Playoffs two weeks ago, Rory McIlroy is leading the pack once again for this weekend’s BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour.

The event will be the first time in a while that LIV Golf players will be joining the PGA Tour field, adding extra motivation for both sides heading into the tournament.

For now, Rory McIlroy sits as the betting favorite.

McIlroy has made himself a main voice for the PGA in its growing rivalry with LIV Golf. McIlroy made sure to throw some more shade at the LIV golfers ahead of this week’s tournament where they will all be reunited.

“It is what it is,” he said to Golf Digest. “They are here. They are playing the golf tournament. My opinion is they shouldn’t be here, but again that’s just my opinion. But we are all going to tee it up on the first tee tomorrow, and we are all going to go play 72 holes, which is a novelty for them at this point, and then we’ll go from there.”

McIlroy would go on to admit that he doesn’t have much of a relationship with the LIV Golf guys at this moment.

“I wouldn’t say I’ve got much of a relationship with them at the minute,” McIlroy said. “But again, if you’re just talking about Ryder Cup, that’s not the future of the Ryder Cup team. They have played in probably a combined 25 Ryder Cups, 30 Ryder Cups, whatever it is. But the future of the Ryder Cup is the Højgaards [twin brothers Nicolai and Rasmus], Bobby Mac [Robert MacIntyre] and whoever else is coming up. They are what we should be thinking about and talking about.”
