Cam Akers Injury News: Rams Running Back Makes Vow to Play Ahead of Thursday Night Football vs. Bills

Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers is ready to put all the buzz about his looming injuries to bed.

After coming back from an Achilles injury to help the Rams during their Super Bowl run last season, Akers sat for two weeks during training camp due to a soft-tissue injury. He’s now declaring himself healthy and ready for a full workload during the upcoming season.

“I know I’m healthy,” Akers said, via Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register. “Everybody else will just get to see (Thursday). I’m not trying to go show anybody that I’m healthy. I’m just going to play my game.”

Given Akers’ confident mindset heading into the season, let’s take a look at some of his betting props for this Thursday Night’s Football game, via DraftKings.

Cam Akers Thursday Night Football Props

  • First TD: +1000
  • Anytime TD: +125
  • Rushing Yards: Over 44.5 -110, under 44.5 -120
  • Receiving Yards: over 13.5 -120, under 13.5 -110
  • Receptions: over 2.5 +130, under 2.5 -175

Akers currently heads into the season as the first running back on the Rams’ depth chart, but backup Darrell Henderson Jr. is expected to receive his fair share of action, as well.

Henderson also missed some time during training camp with a similar issue, and rookie running back Kyren Williams missed time with a foot injury, as well.

“There is a specific program in place as it relates to both of those guys from a pre-practice, a post-practice recovery, all those types of things,” head coach Sean McVay said. “As far as how the games unfold, you guys know, we have plans, but we never just pigeonhole ourselves into one plan. But when both those guys are involved, good things are happening for the Rams.”

Even if Cam Akers‘ is fully prepared to come back with a bang on Thursday night, it appears as though McVay is intent on easing his RB’s back into action.
