No House Advantage World Cup Player Props

Hwang Hee-chan Under 0.5 Shots on Goal

The first World Cup player prop for Monday is Hwang Hee-chan to stay under 0.5 shots on goal for South Korea against Ghana in Group H. This is similar to the Shuto Machino pick that hit Sunday, as Hwang will most likely be absent from this match due to injury. It was a late blow for South Korea, with Hwang in a race against time to be ready for Monday’s big occasion.

Even if he is available, this is a play to fade. The Wolverhampton forward averaged only 0.68 shots on target per 90 minutes, which puts him in the 33rd percentile for attackers in Europe’s top five leagues.

Manuel Akanji Over 53.5 Passes

Next, pick Manuel Akanji to attempt more than 53.5 passes for Switzerland against Brazil in Group G. In Matchday 1, the Manchester City center back attempted 65 passes in a match when they had 51% possession. Akanji attempts 78.9 passes per game, making him one of the more active center backs in Europe in regards to passing.

Though Brazil should win the possession battle, Switzerland will be far more disciplined than Serbia was. At Russia 2018 when these sides met, Brazil garnered 55% possession in the stalemate. As a result, even if Switzerland attempts fewer passes than it did in Matchday 1, there is still plenty of margin for Akanji to get over 53.5 passes.

It is also worth noting that in Brazil’s 2-0 win against Serbia, the two players with the most passes for Serbia were center backs. Nikola Milenković and Miloš Veljković attempted 50 and 45 passes, respectively, in a match when they saw only 41% of the ball. Brazil is a tricky team to break down, especially in the midfield, which results in swinging the ball around the back.

Luis Suarez Over 0.5 Shots on Goal

Finally, ride the last World Cup player prop for Luis Suarez to get one or more shots on goal for Uruguay against Portugal in Group H. Suarez sort of struggled to get anything going against South Korea and will surely look to make his presence known in this one.

In the last 10 Uruguay matches when shots were tracked, Suarez got a shot on target in six, averaging 1.2. Though goals have been more distant in time for the former Barcelona and Liverpool legend, shots have not. In the past 365 days, Suarez has been firing 2.5 shots per 90 minutes, with 0.95 on the frame of the goal.

Portugal is a side he can do damage against. It did not defend well whatsoever in a 3-2 win against Ghana, and this game should be more open. Even if the gaffer drops Suarez, this is not a prop to be afraid of with the 36-year-old coming off the bench.
