Not only did Juan Soto win last year’s Home Run Derby, he was the second youngest player ever to do so. According to MLB.com, Soto was only one day older than the youngest winner ever. Juan Gonzalez achieved set the record for youngest in 1993. Julio Rodriguez was the runner-up last year and he is now just 22-years old. If Rodriguez can win the award in 2023, he’ll be the youngest to player ever that can claim to be home run king.

Rodriguez’s odds to win the 2023 Home Run Derby are +550 at DraftKings. The number is certainly buoyed by the fact that Rodriguez will be at home. Despite Rodriguez’s success and home field advantage, he is eclipsed on the Home Run Derby odds board by three other plays. The favorite to win the event is Pete Alonso at +300, followed by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+360) and Luis Robert Jr. (+550). Alonso won the derby in 2019 and 2021 and is now looking to be a three time winner. Robert is the newest face on the list. He has burst onto the scene this year with 25 home runs in the first half of the season, trailing only Shohei Ohtani in the American League.

Four players rank behind Julio Rodriguez on the Derby’s odds board. Adolis Garcia (+650), Randy Arozarena (+950), Mookie Betts (+1000) and Adley Rutschman (+1700) round out the list. This is the first time that Garcia, Arozarena and Rutschman are competing in the Home Run Derby.
