MAC Best Bets: Kent State-Bowling Green Odds Are Hot

MACtion is back for another week of football, and it is a good time to take a look at the best bets for the Wednesday night slate. There will be three games to play close attention to on Wednesday as the conference race looks like it is going to come down to a very close finish. From here on out, every game will be incredibly important as each team looks to improve their position in the standings. Nonetheless, into our MAC best bets for Wednesday evening.

Kent State-Bowling Green Prediction and Odds

Falcons Look for a Bowl Ticket

The Kent State Golden Flashes (3-6, 2-3 MAC East) will go on the road to square off with the Bowling Green Falcons (5-4, 4-1 MAC East) on Wednesday. Kent State is looking to bounce back after a loss as Bowling Green is carrying a little momentum after a close win last week against Western Michigan.

Kent State began the season with one of the hardest non-conference schedules in the FBS but since they began conference play, their performance has been mediocre to say the least. Bowling Green has won three straight games and with a win on Wednesday, the Falcons could reach bowl eligibility which is a major step in the right direction after a 4-8 performance last season. While the Falcons need to see improvements on offense, the defense has stepped up to the challenge during this win streak and has given up less than 20 points in each of their last three games.

The Falcons are home underdogs on Wednesday as Kent State is favored by 2.5 points. Back the Falcons to cover this spread on Wednesday. With Kent State wide receiver Dante Cephas’ health still in question, the Golden Flashes will lack production from their passing offense and look to lean more on the run game.

While the Golden Flashes do run the ball well, Bowling Green has the fifth-best rush defense in the conference and have created havoc for opposing quarterbacks, as they rank seventh in the FBS in team sacks. With Kent State struggling to find their identity in conference play, Bowling Green looks like they have caught their stride at the right time in the season.

MAC Best Bet: Kent State-Bowling Green Pick: Bowling Green +2.5 (-105)

Buffalo-Central Michigan Prediction and Odds

Bulls Look to Bounce Back

The Buffalo Bulls ((5-4, 4-1 MAC East) will go on a road for this important matchup against the Central Michigan Chippewas (2-3, 3-6 MAC West). Buffalo needs to respond after an embarrassing loss last week to Ohio and Central Michigan looks to keep rolling after a big win last week. Buffalo comes into this contest as 1-point underdogs and while the Bulls struggled last week, back them to cover and win on Wednesday night.

This is a Bulls offense who is third in the MAC in scoring and has scored 30 points or more in three of their last 4 games. While Central Michigan got a win last week, they surrendered four turnovers to Northern Illinois and this trend will come back to haunt them against a much more talented team like Buffalo.

With a game total set at 54 points, bet on the over in this Wednesday night contest. This is a Buffalo team who has hit the over in their last two games and Central Michigan hit or went over their game total in the last two as well. These are also two teams who like to play with quick tempo as Buffalo ranks sixth in the FBS in plays per game and Central Michigan ranks 11th. This will be a competitive contest on Wednesday and a crucial part of both teams’ schedules.

MAC Best Bet: Buffalo-Central Michigan Prediction: Buffalo Moneyline (-105), Over 54 points (-110)

Northern Illinois-Western Michigan Prediction and Odds

Broncos Desperate for a Win

With both teams in this contest coming off of a loss, this game may very well be the last chance for both programs to make something of their seasons. The Northern Illinois Huskies (2-7, 1-4 MAC West) travel to take on the Western Michigan Broncos (3-6, 2-3 MAC West).

Northern Illinois has been mathematically eliminated from bowl eligibility while Western Michigan can still salvage an opportunity at postseason play. With Western Michigan at 1-point home underdogs, bet the Broncos in this one as they look good to come away with a win on Wednesday.

Western Michigan is 4-5 against the spread on the year and as of late, their defense has been dominant, including back-to-back games giving up 13 points or less. If the Bronco offense can do a better job of taking care of the football, the defense should continue to put them in a good position to put some points on the board. Look for the Broncos to keep their bowl hopes alive on Wednesday.

MAC Best Bet: Northern Illinois-Western Michigan Pick: Western Michigan Moneyline (-110)
