Brock Purdy Injury News: Will the 49ers Quarterback Play in TNF?

Will Brock Purdy be suiting up for Thursday Night Football? In the days leading up to the San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks Week 15 clash? The Niners had listed their quarterback as questionable while he deals with oblique and ribs injuries. But on Thursday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Purdy is expected to start.

49ers-Seahawks Betting Odds: Brock Purdy in Line to Start

The 49ers opened as 3-point favorites against the Seahawks on the road but currently sit at -3.5 (per DraftKings). The over/under opened at 41.5, but has since jumped up to 43.

Purdy, “Mr. Irrelevant” in the 2022 NFL Draft, has exceeded all expectations since being thrusted into he QB1 duties following injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. In his two games played, Purdy has completed 67.2% of his passes, thrown four touchdowns and two interceptions, and added a rushing touchdown.

The 49ers offense has seemingly transitioned smoothly going from Garoppolo to Purdy, with head coach Kyle Shanahan even hinting that he may implement more quarterback runs for the deceivingly quick Purdy.

“It was really impressive how he played. I thought it was similar to the week before,” 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said after Week 14, via NBC Sports. “He reacts and runs around and makes some plays.

“Brock’s skill set and what he does, [we] don’t have a ton of designed quarterback runs and stuff, but maybe we need to. He moved pretty well today.”

Per Stokastic’s rankings, Purdy still is not a fantasy football option for Thursday night, listing at No. 26 on the board. He’s projected at 15.50 points for Thursday night.

49ers fans have to be relieved in the latest Brock Purdy injury news, but expect him to continue to manage the game rather than try to light up the Seahawks on primetime.
