Patrick Mahomes MVP Odds: Chiefs Quarterback Climbs List of Favorites Following Dominant Week 1 Performance

If there was any worry about Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs offense after losing Tyreek Hill in the offseason, those worries were laid to rest this weekend.

Mahomes was his usual, dominant self, passing for 360 yards and five touchdowns during the Chiefs convincing 44-21 win on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.

The star quarterback came in as a +900 underdog to win the MVP this season but those odds were immediately on the move following Mahomes’ Week 1 performance.

Patrick Mahomes‘ Updated MVP Odds After Week 1

Per DraftKings, Mahomes now sits at +750 to win the MVP Award, behind only Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who is the favorite to take home the hardware at +500.

After humiliating an inferior Cardinals team, Mahomes admitted that he and his teammates were fully prepared for the game. They finished last season on a sour note in an AFC Championship Game defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Guys were just ready to go,” Mahomes said to ESPN. “They were excited to get out there and show what we had. Everybody’s asked us the questions of what this offense, what this team’s going to look like. We’ve always believed that we were going to go out there and put on a show and I thought guys did that.

“So to go out there and win a game against a really good football team and get the win decisively, it’s a good start.”

It doesn’t seem that the Chiefs will suffer a regression without Hill in their receiver room, and they should still be considered a real Super Bowl threat this season. They’re currently +800 to win the championship this season, behind the Bills (+500), and Buccaneers (+700).

Mahomes’ Chiefs will bring their show back home to Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night to take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
