Bengals vs. Dolphins Anytime Touchdown: Jaylen Waddle Will Prove His WR1 Status in the End Zone (September 29)

Tyreek Hill was the big splash the Dolphins made in the offseason and was immediately named WR1 for the Dolphins upon arrival. This has created a unique situation with another WR1-caliber player in Jaylen Waddle.

Jaylen Waddle Anytime Touchdown (+130, DraftKings)

Despite being placed firmly in the shadow of Hill through three games, Waddle has been the true WR1 in this offense. He has 29 targets for 19 receptions through Week 3,  resulting in the second-most yards receiving for a wideout (342). He also has three touchdowns, which is tied for the second most among wide receivers. Tonight, Waddle gets a Cincinnati secondary that has been picked apart by Joe Flacco, Cooper Rush and Mitchell Trubisky in the prior weeks.

Due to Hill’s sheer speed, he will be shadowed by their best cover safety in Von Bell. Waddle’s matchup is slated to be Eli Apple. When targeted, Apple has allowed a 99.3 passer rating, allowing catches on 9 of his 12 targets. This places him firmly at the bottom of the league when it comes to coverage, ranking him 72nd out of 109 gradable cornerbacks.

The Bengals safeties lack coverage skills. Jessie Bates III has allowed a 100% catch rate for a 118.8 passer rating when targeted, ranking his coverage skills 49th out of 75 gradable safeties in the NFL.

Tua Tagovailoa and Waddle are both listed as questionable for tonight’s game, but both are expected to play. This has created an excellent price on Waddle of +130 on the over at DraftKings. Bet on Waddle to find the end zone tonight and continue his stellar performance, thus proving he is the true WR1 in this Miami offense.
