Cowboys-Eagles Line Movement: Dallas Now 6.5-Point Favorites in Week 16

The 13-1 Philadelphia Eagles beat the Chicago Bears in Week 15. The Dallas Cowboys weren’t so lucky — they fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Eagles now need just one more win to clinch both the NFC East and a first-round bye. Despite Philadelphia’s impressive 2022 campaign, Dallas has benefited from early Cowboys-Eagles line movement, seeing its advantage for Week 16’s matchup grow to 6.5 points.

Cowboys-Eagles Line Movement: Dallas Trending Up

The Dallas Cowboys were only a one-point favorite on the look-ahead market for next Saturday’s battle with the Philadelphia Eagles. But after the Eagles nearly locked up the division because of the Cowboys’ loss, bettors have started to back Dallas in a prime bounce-back spot — especially since Jalen Hurts may not be available on Sunday.

Notably, Dallas’ odds have improved despite a big injury of their own. Star linebacker Leighton Vander Esch suffered a right shoulder stinger that could cause him to miss time. Although it’s unrelated to his previous neck injury, the Cowboys could take a cautious approach with the injury-prone linebacker — especially with the playoffs approaching.

Bet on the Cowboys-Eagles to go under the total, and in addition to the risk-free bet from MGM, get $25 no matter what.

However, the injury to Jalen Hurts is the far bigger story. The star quarterback sprained his throwing shoulder in the third quarter of Philadelphia’s win over Chicago. The spread had moved to Dallas -3 before the announcement, but it almost instantly ticked down to Dallas -6.5 following the news. With the Eagles one win away from a bye, the team almost certainly won’t rush Hurts back from even a minor ailment.

Dallas will also benefit from home-field advantage. The Cowboys have gone a solid but unremarkable 5-3 against the spread at home. That’s far better than what the Eagles have done on the road, as Jalen Hurts team is just 2-5 against the spread when playing outside Philadelphia. This number is likely to keep moving throughout the week, and bettors can continue to monitor NFL line movement and betting trends with  OddsShopper’s line comparison tool.
