If you’re still alive, congratulations … seriously. Week 5 wiped out a massive chunk of Survivor pools across the country. From the Rams to the Cardinals, the carnage was real. But if you survived, you’re in an excellent spot heading into Survivor Week 6, because now strategy matters more than ever. Half the pool is gone, byes are starting and all NFL Survivor pool picks have ripple effects down the line.

The Obvious Pick: Green Bay Packers
Just like the Lions last week, the Green Bay Packers are the “get me to next week” play for anyone who just wants to survive. They’re massive home favorites, sitting around -1000 on the moneyline and facing a Bengals team that looks completely lost without Joe Burrow.
The Packers have been a little inconsistent, but this is the kind of game they control from the jump. Cincinnati’s defense hasn’t been able to slow anyone down, and Green Bay’s rushing attack with Josh Jacobs should dominate at home.
If your pool is down to a few dozen entries, this is where it’s totally fine to play it safe. Pick the Packers, move on and live to fight another day.
But … you know what’s coming.
Safe picks get you through one week. Smart picks win you the whole thing.
The Risky Pick: New England Patriots
Want to zig while everyone else zags? The New England Patriots are the sneaky, high-risk Survivor play in Week 6.
They’re coming off a surprising win over Buffalo and now hit the road against New Orleans, a team that thrived last week off Giants turnovers but still has plenty of flaws. Nobody’s going to use the Patriots here, which makes them an interesting leverage play if you’re trying to gain ground on your pool.
It’s uncomfortable, I get it. But that’s what makes it valuable. Using New England now lets you preserve other big teams for later in the season, and that could be the edge that keeps you alive into December.
If you’re in a huge pool and want to be contrarian, New England is your path.
