NFL TNF Props and Odds No House Advantage: Cam Akers Builds on Momentum

Thursday Night Football in Week 14 brings a matchup with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the Las Vegas Raiders. Let’s try to inject some life into this game by playing on No House Advantage. There are two types of contests to play, “Pick ‘Em” and “Vs The House.” Let’s try to help narrow down the field by highlighting some of the best  NFL props to target for TNF. Also, check out our NFL Player Props Tool to help you make all your selections.

NFL Thursday Night Football Props and Odds: No House Advantage

Josh Jacobs: Over 70.5 Rushing Yards

On the surface, this number looks low. Jacobs has rushed for at least 109 yards in each of the last three games, including a performance against the Seahawks in which he ran for 229 yards. He has received at least 20 carries in seven of his last nine games, finishing with at least 78 rushing yards in all seven of those games. He even rushed for at least 143 yards in five of them.

The reason why this line was probably set so low is that the Raiders will be playing on a short week and Jacobs has dealt with a calf injury. If the Raiders jump out to an early lead against the injury-riddled Rams, they could give Jacobs rest in the second half of the game. However, if they do build a big lead early, it will likely be on the shoulders of Jacobs. The NFL Player Props Tool has Jacobs projected to rush for 112.3 yards.

Tyler Higbee: Under 3.5 Receptions

Over the first five games of the season, Higbee recorded 33 receptions on 48 targets for 290 yards. Over the last seven games, he has 17 receptions on 30 targets for 154 yards. During that seven-game stretch, he recorded two or fewer receptions five times.

There isn’t much reason for optimism with Higbee moving forward since Matthew Stafford (neck) is expected to be out for the remainder of the season. With Stafford out the last two games, Higbee recorded a total of two receptions on five targets. The NFL Player Props Tool has Higbee projected to finish with 3.2 receptions.

Cam Akers: Over 39.5 Rushing Yards

It’s been a strange season for Akers. Once thought to be the featured running back of the future for the Rams, he began the season with just three rushing attempts in Week 1. He fell out of favor with the team and was on the trading block as the deadline approached. No deal ever materialized, and the team eventually decided to move on from a different running back, releasing Darrell Henderson after their Week 13 matchup with the Saints. He only had two carries in that game, while Akers turned 14 carries into 61 yards.

Akers received a season-high 17 carries against the Seahawks in Week 13, which he turned into 60 yards and two touchdowns. Since Stafford is out for the season, the Rams might look to run the ball more down the stretch. Add that to Henderson being gone and Akers could again receive a significant workload.

John Wolford: Over 194.5 Passing Yards

Wolford started in place of Stafford in Week 10, throwing for 212 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a favorable matchup against the Cardinals, who have allowed the ninth-most passing yards per game in the league. He also started last week against the Seahawks, finishing with 178 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. The Rams claimed Baker Mayfield off waivers on Tuesday, but with only two days to prepare, it would likely take an injury to get Mayfield into the game. Wolford is listed as questionable with a neck injury, so this one will require some monitoring.

If he plays, this game could work in Wolford’s favor to hit the over for a couple of reasons. First, the Raiders have a potent offense, so Wolford might need to throw a lot in the second half if the Rams find themselves playing catchup. The second reason Wolford could hit the over is that the Raiders have allowed the third-most passing yards per game in the league. Every starting quarterback that they have faced this season has thrown for at least 222 yards against them. That’s especially noteworthy when you consider they have faced Ryan Tannehill, Davis Mills, Andy Dalton, Matt Ryan, and Russell Wilson (twice).
