NFL Weather Reports: Winter Storms to Impact Several Week 16 Matchups

Winter is coming for the NFL, and a few different games are expected to be affected by freezing temperatures and/or storms this weekend. Ahead of Week 16, let’s dive into the NFL weather report and see which games are going to be affected by the countrywide storms.

Because of the Christmas holiday, most of the NFL schedule (11 games) will be played on Saturday instead of on Sunday (three games).

NFL Weather Report For Week 16

Jaguars-Jets: The Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets in East Rutherford, New Jersey, isn’t supposed to be overly cold, but rain could be a factor. For the Thursday Night Football matchup, there is a 100% chance of rain, with 1-2 inches expected throughout the evening. This will provide another obstacle for Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, who will make his second consecutive start because of the injury to Mike White (ribs). After the betting line opened at Jets -2, they’ve moved to -1, with the over/under coming down from 42 to 38 (per DraftKings).

Saints-Browns: The Saturday afternoon matchup between the two long shot playoff hopefuls could be another game that’s greatly impacted by the NFL weather report. Per The Weather Channel, there could be some snow in the mix in Cleveland. Perhaps even wore worrisome is the wind, with a chance of gusts up to 40 mph throughout the matchup. Given the tough conditions, the over/under has moved to 32 after opening at 38. The Cleveland Browns remain 3-point favorites at home against the New Orleans Saints.

NFL Weather Week 16: Bills-Bears: Winter weather is expected to hit Chicago hard this weekend, with the “feels like” temperature well below zero during the Saturday game, and heavy winds and perhaps some snow involved in the lopsided matchup between the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills. The over/under has come down from 45.5 to 40.5 as the week has progressed.

Seahawks-Chiefs: In another game with “feels like” temperatures well below zero in Kansas City, the Seattle Seahawks will have their work cut out for them to keep their NFC wild card hopes alive against the juggernaut that is the Kansas City Chiefs offense. Perhaps the cold and wind will hinder the passing attack, but don’t count on it. The Chiefs remain a 9.5-point favorite with the over/under at 48.5.

Bengals-Patriots: A rainy Friday in Foxboro, Massachusetts, is supposed to give way to a relative mild (compared to other games) Saturday matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots. Temperatures in the mid-20s and winds from 15-20 mph could slow the offenses, but don’t expect it to be too bad. The Bengals are 2.5-point road favorites given their hot stretch, with the over/under at 41.5.

NFL Weather Week 16: Texans-Titans: Temperatures are supposed to get below 20 degrees in Nashville, Tennessee, with wind remaining in the 10-15 mph range. However, the sun is supposed to make an appearance, making it a rather usual winter game compared to what we’re seeing in other parts of the country. After opening at 41, the over/under has fallen all the way to 37, with the Tennessee Titans coming in as 5.5-point favorites against the Houston Texans.

Falcons-Ravens: In another game with temperatures in the 20s and wind remaining under 20 mph, this one in Baltimore will be cold, but nothing out of the ordinary. The Baltimore Ravens will hope to get their slumping offense going at home, coming in as 7.5-point favorites over the Atlanta Falcons. The over/under has come down to 37.5 after opening at 41, but we can probably attribute that to injuries and struggles for both offenses rather than the cold weather.

Raiders-Steelers: For the Saturday night matchup, temperatures are expected to dip below 10 degrees in Pittsburgh, with winds ranging from 10-20 mph. The area is expected to endure some snow showers throughout the week, but those are likely to subside by the time kickoff rolls around. The Pittsburgh Steelers have taken over as 3-point favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders despite opening as underdogs. The over/under is set at 39.5.

All around the NFL, we’re seeing low over/under totals that continue to drop due mainly due to the NFL weather report across the country. If you’re a fan of low-scoring games and defensive battles, Week 16 will likely satisfy.
