Sean B’s Best NFL Play Prop Bets Today: Stout Defenses Force Cousins & Rush to Throw Interceptions (October 2)

Week 4 is here, and Sunday’s slate kicks off bright and early with the Vikings taking on the Saints in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET. The Jaguars will get to prove their worth against the only undefeated team left in the league, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Raiders will try to avoid an 0-4 start by beating the Broncos, who are 2-1. Let’s dive into the best NFL player props for today, Sunday, October 2.

Best Week 4 NFL Betting Prop Bets & Predictions

Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints

The NFL has several games scheduled overseas in London this season and the Vikings-Saints will be the first matchup to kick-off abroad. Kirk Cousins will look to ride the momentum off last week’s comeback win over the Detroit Lions. Cousins threw three interceptions in their only road game this season.

The New Orleans Saints finished top-eight in Defensive DVOA five consecutive seasons. They have a strong secondary that has yet to secure an interception through the first three weeks. Expect their defense to be out of the field a lot in this one due to the abundance of injuries on the offensive side of the ball. Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas have been ruled out, while Alvin Kamara and Jarvis Landry are listed as questionable. Their defense has allowed just 180 passing yards per game in the last two weeks. If there’s one area of concern, it is their rush defense which has allowed allowed a 100-yard rusher twice in three games.

Cousins is only completing 62% of his passes in coach Kevin McConnell’s offense. Expect McConnell to create plays for their star wide receiver Justin Jefferson who has just 62 yards combined in their last two games. Jefferson can lineup all over the formation and the Vikings will look to exploit the different defensive matchups throughout the game. Oddsmakers have Cousin’s passing attempts line set at 34.5 attempts, which gives New Orleans plenty of opportunities to secure their first interception as a team.

Even though I expect the Vikings to attack the Saints rush defense, Cousins will get plenty of attempts through the air. If the Saints want to have any chance of winning, it will need to be done through a solid defense effort. Saints are top 8 in sacks throughout the first three weeks, so anticipate New Orleans to apply plenty of pressure to Minnesota’s offensive line and force Cousins to throw an interception.

Best NFL Bet for Today’s Game: Kirk Cousins Over 0.5 Interceptions (+100)

Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys

Cooper Rush will get the nod at starting QB for the third week a row for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys enter Week 4 on a short week after defeating the Giants 23-16 on Monday night. Rush has outperformed expectations thus far, leading the Cowboys to back-to-back victories. Dallas will take on a divisional opponent going up against the Washington Commanders at home on Sunday. Surprisingly, Rush is the only starting quarterback in the league without an interception this season.

Dallas wide receiver Michael Gallup and tight end Dalton Schultz are both expected to return in Week 4. This will open up the passing options for Rush, so expect offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to dial up more plays through the air. Rush came into the league as an undrafted player after four years at Central Michigan where he threw for double-digit interceptions in each of those four seasons. He has surpassed all expectations thus far after taking over the starting role, but can he string together three straight wins for the Cowboys?

With Dallas on a short week, Washington had an extra day to prep compared to the Cowboys, which is always in advantage in this league. Oddsmakers have the Cowboys sitting as 3-point favorites at home. Commanders Ron Rivera is a defensive minded coach that will looking to turn this unit around and take advantage of the absence of Dak Prescott. While the Washington defensive line has not looked the same with Chase Young sidelined with an injury, they still have some talent upfront in Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. Anything can happen in a divisional matchup and even though Washington’s defensive unit only has one interception through the first three games, expect the Commanders to apply enough pressure on Rush and force an interception in Sunday’s matchup.

Best NFL Bet For Today’s Game: Cooper Rush Over 0.5 Interceptions (-120)
