Steelers vs. Saints Prediction and Odds: T.J. Watt Return Would Boost Pittsburgh

One of the more underwhelming matchups on the slate for NFL Week 10 has the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the New Orleans Saints. Each team has issues at quarterback, which has contributed to their combined 5-12 record. With that said, it’s time to check out our NFL odds series, which includes our Steelers-Saints prediction, odds and pick we have laid out below.

Andy Dalton Could Have to Face T.J. Watt

It looks like the Saints (3-6) have moved on from quarterback Jameis Winston. After missing time because of injury, he has remained the backup to Andy Dalton the past few games, despite being healthy. Dalton did have a four-touchdown game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7 but was picked off three times in the 42-34 loss. He has one touchdown pass in four of the other five games he’s played. It doesn’t help that wide receiver Michael Thomas (toe) will miss the remainder of the season.

The Steelers come into this game after a bye in Week 9. They could get back pass rusher T.J. Watt (pectoral), which would provide a huge boost to their defense. This might be a difficult matchup for Saints running back Alvin Kamara to find his way into the end zone, given that the Steelers have allowed five rushing touchdowns all season.

Kenny Pickett Not Helping Steelers Offense

The Kenny Pickett Era is not off to a good start. The rookie QB hasn’t thrown more than one touchdown pass in a game while racking up eight interceptions. The Steelers (2-6) sent away one of his weapons at the NFL Trade Deadline, dealing WR Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears. RB Najee Harris also has been a disappointment, failing to rush for more than 74 yards in a game this season. He could lose work to RB Jaylen Warren, who turned a season-high six carries into 50 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8.

This is not a good matchup for Pickett when you consider the Saints have allowed the ninth-fewest passing yards per game (199.7). They are shorthanded at cornerback, though, with Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) possibly to miss his fifth straight game. The NFL Player Props Tool has Pickett projected to throw for 214.0 yards and 1.3 touchdowns.

Final Steelers-Saints Prediction & Pick

Points might be difficult to come by in this game, especially if Watt returns for the Steelers. The Saints will be at a disadvantage, having played Monday and with the Steelers coming off a bye. However, the Steelers are a mess on offense, scoring 13 points or fewer in three of their past four games. Look for Kamara and Chris Olave to help the Saints do just enough on offense to come away with the win.
