Japan to Qualify Versus Sluggish Costa Rica

Pick Japan to win in a shutout against Costa Rica on Sunday morning. Just four days ago, we bet on Japan to cover the +0.5 spread against Germany; not only did they do that, they stole all three points as well. Basically, the game went down exactly as expected, with Japan holding firm defensively and hitting Germany on the counter. This is an exciting Japan side that should qualify at this point.

On the other hand, Costa Rica is coming off a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Spain. Los Ticos only gathered 19% possession and mustered a 0.0 expected goal tally. Japan will not nearly be as suffocating as Spain, but they have a great head-to-head record. As a matter of fact, Japan are unbeaten in four matches against Costa Rica, with three wins to their name. In those three matches, Japan also scored a whopping nine goals.

In regards to the clean sheet for this Japan-Costa Rica prediction, it shouldn’t be overly difficult for Japan here. They held Germany to just one goal on an expected goals allowed count of 3.1, which is impressive. Also, in the six games CONCACAF teams have played in so far, they have only scored once (Tim Weah, United States). Both teams scoring is trending downwards and Japan to win in a shutout offers solid value at +105.

Final Japan-Costa Rica Pick: Japan to win in shutout (+105, DraftKings)

Morocco Moneyline +320

Both Teams Will Not Score in Belgium-Morocco

Our next World Cup bet is in favor of the “no” for both teams to score in Belgium-Morocco. This is a play we faded on Saturday, and is one trending across the board at the 2022 World Cup. So far, after 24 matches, both teams to score is only hitting 37.5% of the time.

This Belgium-Morocco pick has -110 odds, which is just enough value to try it again. This is the smart decision situationally as well. Staying away from the moneyline and a potential Belgium upset is the way to go here. The Red Devils were played off the park by Canada, but held a clean sheet despite facing 2.4 expected goals. Morocco has some tricky attacking players, which offers the same risk to Roberto Martinez and company.

Both teams to score has not hit in Morocco’s last five matches, across all competitions. For Belgium, it has only hit in two of five.

Final Belgium-Morocco Pick: No on both teams to score (-110, DraftKings)

World Cup Odds: Spain-Germany Odds

Spain Moneyline +130
Germany Moneyline +200
Draw Moneyline +265
Over/Under 2.5 Total Goals Over: -140, Under: +115

Germany Worth a Draw no Bet Play vs Spain

For this final World Cup bet on Sunday ride with the Germany draw no bet against Spain at odds of +115. This is definitely going against the grain a little bit, as the Germany have only won two matches from their last nine. Their 1-2-4 record against Spain recently does not help their case either. But, with all that being said, it is naïve to think that Spain can easily win their first two group stage matches. In fact, this is a feat they have only accomplished three times.

For Germany, they have not lost consecutive group stage games in the same tournament. While their defense is a bit shaky, the offense was extremely active against Japan, putting up 25 shots. If they can just be a bit more clinical with their final balls and strikes, they can give Spain problems. Also, because Spain really were not tested against Costa Rica, they could get caught sleeping. I do not expect Germany to lose here and the draw no bet takes the risk out of a third result, so +115 is value I am willing to gamble on.

Final Spain-Germany Pick: Germany draw no bet (+115, DraftKings)
