Carlos Rodon Signing Changes Yankees 2023 World Series Odds

Carlos Rodon signing with the New York Yankees has moved them to the second favorite in the 2023 World Series odds.

The Yankees are now +700 to win the championship, down from +900 before reports of the Carlos Rodon signing broke Thursday night. The Houston Astros remain the favorites, but the American League rivals are up to +600, from +550 earlier in the week.

The Los Angeles Dodgers held at +700, the best from the National League, followed by the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets and San Diego Padres, who each held steady at +1000, per DraftKings.

The reports say Rodon is getting a six-year contract worth $162 million, after the Yankees retained outfielder Aaron Judge with a nine-year, $360 million contract earlier this offseason.

The 30-year-old left-hander was 14-8 with a 2.88 ERA last season for the San Francisco Giants. His 178 innings and 31 starts were career highs. The season prior, with the Chicago White Sox, he was 13-5 with a 2.37 ERA.

He joins a Yankees rotation that includes Gerrit Cole, Nelson Cortes, Frankie Montas and Luis Severino.

New York won the AL East last season and was swept by Houston in the ALCS. The Yankees have not won the World Series since 2009, the last time they reached it. They have lost the ALCS five times since then, including three times to the Astros (2022, 2019, 2017).

The Giants remained at +3500 to win the World Series after news of Carlos Rodon signing elsewhere.
