Is Klay Thompson Playing Wednesday? Injury Status Affects Warriors-Jazz Odds

Will the Golden State Warriors have Klay Thompson on the floor when they take on the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night? After logging 38 minutes in the Warriors’ 110-105 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, C.J. Holmes of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that it was unlikely the shooting guard would be suiting up in the second night of the back-to-back. Thompson is officially listed as doubtful.

Klay Thompson Injury Status Changes Warriors-Jazz Odds

If it were up to Klay Thompson, he would be playing on Wednesday night.

“Hope so, but the training staff, that’s up to them,” Thompson said in the postgame press conference following Golden State’s victory against the Hornets, per 95.7 The Game. “It’d be fun, though.”

The Jazz are currently 4.5-point favorites on the road against Golden State (DraftKings). The Jazz opened as 2-point favorites before the Warriors were hit with the injury stick. Thompson will be joining the likes of Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins on the bench, forcing the Warriors to use some of the secondary players in a larger role.

The main beneficiary (at least on the stat sheet) of the Warriors’ injuries is Jordan Poole, who will undoubtedly be leaned on to score the basketball against the Jazz. Poole is averaging 19.6 points, 4.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds. In the 13 games in the month of December, Poole has averaged 25.8 points per game, including 56 points combined over his last two games.

Per OddsShopper’s Stokastic NBA Bet Pro tool, Poole is projected for 29.1 points on Wednesday night playing in a featured role with Thompson likely out. His over/under prop on points is currently set at 27.5 (DraftKings). If looking to bet on a Poole prop or take any other action in the Warriors-Jazz game on Wednesday, be sure to use OddsShopper’s tools to find the best lines on the sportsbooks.
