2023 NFL Super Bowl Odds & Bets After Week 2: Herbert and the Chargers Continue to Offer Strong Value

There was significant movement on the 2023 Super Bowl odds board following another week of upsets in the NFL. Luckily for bettors, with line movement comes opportunity to find value in the midst of market overreaction.

The top of the Super Bowl odds board remains the same with the leading Bills, Buccaneers, Chiefs and Eagles all winning in Week 2.

However, some Week 2 winning teams’ odds dropped while some losing teams’ odds actually increased. The Cardinals, who beat the Raiders last week, saw negative line movement on their Super Bowl odds. On the other hand, the Vikings, who were defeated by the Eagles on Monday night, saw their chances increase.

This is likely a case of Vegas knowing better than to overreact to one win or loss.

This column will use FanDuel Sportsbook each week to track teams and odds movement. You can shop for NFL odds across the market here.

Moving Up

Bills, Buccaneers, Chiefs, 49ers, Vikings, Dolphins, Cowboys, Patriots, Giants, Jaguars and Jets

The teams at the top moved up slightly, while the long-shot teams at the bottom made bigger moves. Despite the improvement in their chances, it would be wise to stay away from any of these long shots.

If you believe that the Cowboys can win some more games with backup quarterback Cooper Rush until Dak Prescott returns, you could take a shot on them.

The 49ers lost quarterback Trey Lance for the season due to an ankle injury, but Jimmy Garoppolo has taken this team the distance, so that is an intriguing Super Bowl bet as well.

The team that looks like the best value in this group is the Dolphins at +2500. The Dolphins play the Bills in week 3 and assuming they lose and their odds decrease, you can buy Miami after they dip even further. Their offense under new head coach Mike McDaniel looks like the real deal.

Moving Down

Chargers, Rams, Ravens, Broncos, Bengals, Saints, Colts, Cardinals, Titans, Browns, Raiders, Commanders, Steelers, Bears, Panthers, Seahawks and Falcons

The Colts fell the most out of this list after they were shut out by the Jacksonville Jaguars. They were depleted at wide receiver and without star receiver Michael Pittman Jr. The Colts may turn it around, but wait a week since they now face the Kansas City Chiefs. Their price might look even better if they can’t secure a victory.

2023 Super Bowl Bets to Consider Right Now

Los Angeles Chargers +1500

The bad news for the Chargers is that they lost to their division rival Kansas City Chiefs Thursday night, while their star quarterback Justin Herbert sustained a rib injury. That’s a double whammy, but the good news is that Herbert is considered day-to-day and shouldn’t miss much time.

The Chargers’ loss on Thursday night was a heartbreaker as a pick-six in the fourth quarter really shifted the entire game.

This team was one of the Super Bowl favorites at the beginning of the season. Now that their odds have dropped a bit, the Chargers are a good value bet to go all the way.

Baltimore Ravens +1800

The Ravens lost to the Dolphins 42-38 Sunday. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa mounted a massive comeback, leading leading Miami to score 28 points in the 4th quarter.

However, the Ravens and Lamar Jackson looked in control most of the game. Jackson played outstanding, rushing for over 100 yards and throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

These AFC teams will be more battle-tested when it comes to the playoffs given that the AFC is a much more talented conference. That could be a benefit to the ultimate winner of this conference, and the Ravens are in that conversation.
