The New York Jets tried to fill the void left by Breece Hall‘s ACL injury when acquiring running back James Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the week. With Robinson set to make his Jets debut against the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon, let’s look at the Michael Carter–James Robinson fantasy football and DFS rankings.
Michael Carter figured to be the lead back in New York for the remainder of the season, but the Robinson deal will undoubtedly cut into Carter’s workload.
However, it’s still Carter who’s listed as the RB1 on the Jets’ depth chart for the time being.
Michael Carter, James Robinson Fantasy Football & DFS Ranking
Per Stokastic’s NFL Start/Sit Fantasy Football Rankings for Week 8, we currently have Carter ranked as the No. 24 running back on the board, with Robinson checking in at No. 45. And using Stokastic’s fantasy football player compare tool, Carter (12.15 projected points) is well ahead of Robinson (5.93).
In DFS, Stokastic’s projections also favor Carter over Robinson. Using Stokastic’s free player compare tool for DFS, Carter ($5,900) is viewed as a better play over Robinson ($5,700).
After being dealt, Robinson shared his ecstatic mindset with the opportunity to go from a Jaguars team that was beginning to favor Travis Etienne at running back, to a Jets team with playoff aspirations.
“I love the vibe,” Robinson said, via the team’s website. “There’s a lot of guys that want to win and I can see that. At practice I can see that, too. It feels pretty good, I’ll tell you, to go to 5-2 from 2-5.”
At some point, Robinson will likely take the RB1 role from Carter. But given how new he is to the Jets offense, it’s Carter who figures to be the better play for Week 8.
