Derrick Henry Injury News: Is Hassan Haskins Worth a Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickup?

Will the Tennessee Titans be without star running back Derrick Henry for their Week 17 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football? Henry, who has a hip injury, practiced Tuesday after not practicing Monday. Bit he is officially listed as DOUBTFUL for Thursday night with the Titans playoff chances hinging on a Week 18 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars regardless of the Week 17 outcome. With many fantasy leagues in the semifinals or championship, owners are wondering if backup Hassan Haskins is worth a fantasy football waiver wire pickup.

Hassan Haskins Fantasy Football Week 17

Given the short turnaround before their Week 17 game, it’s likely that Derrick Henry‘s injury keeps him out this week. And with backup running back Dontrell Hilliard on IR, that would leave just Hassan Haskins and Julius Chestnut in the backfield for the Titans. Regardless of the outcome of the Cowboys game, the Titans (7-8) would still have to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars (7-8) in Week 18 to win the AFC South, making rest possible for several key contributors.

“We’ve got some guys that have played a lot of football for us that are far less than 100 percent,” Vrabel said, via Nick Suss of The Tennessean. “It’s those guys that I appreciate that no matter what find a way to be here for this team. We’ll try to figure out who we have and who’s available and then make some decisions.”

Haskins has served as the primary kick returner for Tennessee in his rookie season. The Michigan product has 11 carries for 50 yards, adding 31 receiving yards. Haskins is the fantasy football priority over Chestnut if Henry does miss Thursday’s game.

The Titans will also be without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who suffered what’s likely a season-ending ankle injury during Week 15. Per BetMGM, the Titans are currently 10-point underdogs at home against the Cowboys. Tennessee is +200 to win the AFC South.
