Michael Gallup Fantasy Football News: Where Cowboys Receiver Ranks Following Jerry Jones’ Optimistic Comment On ACL

Perhaps the Dallas Cowboys will have receiver Michael Gallup back before they planned.

On Wednesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed that he will not be placing Gallup on the PUP list, opening the door to the possibility that the wideout can play in the first four weeks of the regular season.

After the revelation about Michael Gallup, many fantasy football drafters are obviously curious about where he’s slated in the receiver rankings.

Per our Stokastic cheat sheet, Gallup is currently the 42nd receiver on the list in a full PPR league. On the Cowboys’ current depth chart, Gallup is listed as the second receiver opposite CeeDee Lamb following the los of Amari Cooper in the offseason.

Last season, Gallup tore his ACL on January 2 and had surgery to repair the injury on February 10. Still, he was able to ink a massive five year, $62.5 Million extension to stay with Dallas in the offseason.

In 2019, Gallup had his best season as a pro when he caught 66 passes for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns. But his numbers dropped in 2020 before he suffered his injury last season.

Earlier in the offseason, he said it was “not a reasonable possibility,” that he’d be available for the team’s Week 1 matchup with the Buccaneers, but Jerry Jones wouldn’t rule out the possibility.

“We just don’t want to do anything that would put him in some kind of category that would limit us from getting him in the first game,” Jones said, per Bobby Belt of 105.3 The Fan after opting against placing the receiver on the PUP list.

Michael Gallup is entering just his age-26 season. And being as the Cowboys are now missing some of Dak Prescott‘s more familiar weapons, perhaps Gallup will be worth a draft pick in the later round of your fantasy drafts.
