Raiders vs. Steelers Weather Report: Brutal Wind Chill Expected in Pittsburgh

Winter weather will cut across the United States this holiday season. But the show must go on in the NFL, so multiple teams will trot out into frigid temperatures and gusty winds. The Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers are no exception. The Raiders-Steelers weather report is unfriendly, and the forecast has carried consequences for the betting markets.

Bettors looking for an edge on Saturday’s Raiders-Steelers game should pay close attention to weather forecasts as the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff approaches. Raiders-Steelers Weather Report

The National Weather Service expects some tough conditions for tonight’s Raiders-Steelers game. Pittsburgh winters are usually grim, but this evening’s forecast calls for especially brutal conditions at Acrisure Stadium.

A slight chance of snow showers between 9pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as -11. Southwest wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

The Weather Channel’s hourly forecast agrees. It calls for temperatures of 13 degrees with the wind chill dropping conditions below zero at kickoff. Winds of 15 mph or greater should persist for the entire game. But with winds expected to cut in a west-southwest direction, neither team should face a particular advantage or disadvantage. The winds should cut right across the field due to the north-northwest orientation of Acrisure Stadium.

With a low chance of precipitation in the forecast, bettors shouldn’t expect a Snow Bowl. However, gusty winds should affect both teams’ passing and kicking games equally throughout the contest. That could lead both sides to emphasize the run and take fewer risks with long-range field goals. Bettors have bid the total for this game down to 38.5 from 40, so most expect an impact on scoring.

The busy NFL card that will proceed Saturday night’s Raiders-Steelers game may be preventing sharps from selling out on either the side or the total quite yet. As a result, bettors looking to get the last shred of edge on the under have some time to do so. Bettors who expect a run-heavy contest should note that the Raiders rank fifth in yards per rush attempt (5.0) while the Steelers rank 25th (4.1).
