Two Underdog NFL picks for Sunday Night Football, November 1, Eagles at Commanders (8:20 p.m. ET at Northwest Stadium): Dallas Goedert (PHI) Higher 6.5 targets and Jayden Daniels (WSH) Higher 199.5 passing yards. Philadelphia is 2-5 and starts Tanner McKee (PHI) with Jalen Hurts (PHI) on injured reserve, Washington is 1-4-1 and a 6-point home favorite on ESPN's line with the total at 40.5, and both passing games are short a top receiver: DeVonta Smith (PHI) is out with a hamstring and Terry McLaurin (WSH) is on injured reserve.
The Picks: Sunday Night Football, November 1
| Player | Stat | Line | Call |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dallas Goedert (PHI) | Targets | 6.5 | Higher |
| Jayden Daniels (WSH) | Passing yards | 199.5 | Higher |
Dallas Goedert Higher 6.5 Targets
Eric's read: with DeVonta Smith out, Goedert becomes the centerpiece of Philadelphia's passing attack. In the games Smith has missed this season, Eric has Goedert at a 22.9 percent target share and 13 first-read targets, and tonight he draws a Washington secondary that has allowed the seventh-most receiving yards to tight ends, with McKee under center and leaning on the short area. Give him Goedert higher, no questions asked.
The game log, per ESPN: Goedert has played five games this season and been targeted 5, 3, 9, 8 and 7 times. The two he played without Smith are the ones that matter here, 9 targets for 6 catches and 38 yards against Jacksonville in Week 5 and 7 targets for 5 catches and 48 yards against Dallas last week, both over 6.5. Smith was ruled out with a hamstring injury and is not expected back until the Giants game on November 8.
Jayden Daniels Higher 199.5 Passing Yards
Eric's read: Daniels gets a Philadelphia defense he has at 25th in EPA per pass and 28th in passing yards allowed, a favorable matchup even without Terry McLaurin, and Washington's passing offense has been improving since Daniels came back from injury. He likes Daniels to clear 200 easily through the air.
The game log, per ESPN: Daniels threw for 300 yards against San Francisco in Week 6, 29 of 40 for a 72.5 percent completion rate with two touchdowns and no interceptions, and he has topped 300 combined passing plus rushing yards in each of his last two games, 302 against the Giants in Week 5 (199 passing, 103 rushing) and 310 against the 49ers. He missed Weeks 3 and 4, so those two games are the whole sample since his return. McLaurin went on injured reserve with a knee injury and is out for the season, which is the one thing working against the volume.
