Ole Miss vs. Georgia Tech Betting Odds & Prediction: Rebels’ Balanced Team Too Much in Week 3 (September 17)

There have been some very exciting non-conference football games early in this season. This game should showcase a lot of talent and give a good evaluation of both programs. In this matchup, Ole Miss travels to Atlanta for a matchup against Georgia Tech.

The Ole Miss Rebels come in ranked 20th in the country and look like they can make a run in the SEC this season. Georgia Tech has a 1-1 record and is looking to improve in every aspect from last season’s performance. Every game from here on out is incredibly important, and neither team can afford a letdown this early in the season.

Ole Miss vs. Georgia Tech Week 3 College Football Betting Picks

Rebels Ready to Go

Head coach Lane Kiffin has himself a solid squad this year. This Ole Miss team has played consistent football the past couple of seasons, and from the looks of it, they have a chance to earn national respect this season. The gauntlet that is the SEC is not going to make things easy for the Rebels, but they have the talent to compete with anyone.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart has been impressive through the Rebels’ first two games. Running back Quinshon Judkins has been the primary ball carrier and has put up consistent numbers to complement a consistent passing game for Ole Miss.

Although the Rebels have not played the toughest competition in their first couple games, the defense has only given up a total of 13 points in two games, which is a trend that must continue as they head into SEC play. Both sides of the football have been playing well, and Kiffin expects his team to improve even more as the season progresses.

Setting the Bar Higher

Last season was not what Georgia Tech had in mind, and they need a lot of improvement to put a competitive product on the field. A 3-9 record in 2021 for the Yellow Jackets has head coach Geoff Collins searching for answers. In his fourth season with the program, he needs his ball club to start producing.

Georgia Tech looked like a whole new team in the first 30 minutes of opening weekend. They hung with Clemson for the first half of the game but ended up with a 41-10 defeat. Still, they are hoping to build off of a victory against Western Carolina last week.

Quarterback Jeff Sims has had some bright spots for the Yellow Jackets. The sophomore has been able to make plays as a dynamic athlete but needs to still work on throwing the ball downfield. Dontae Smith has been the leading rusher for Georgia Tech, and they are going to need some quality reps from him against the SEC power on Saturday.

Georgia Tech’s defense needs to step their play up this weekend. After giving up 41 points to Clemson, it was a little too close for comfort last week against the FCS program in Western Carolina. It is a long season, but improvement is critical early in the year.

Major Mismatch for Georgia Tech

It could very well be a special year for Ole Miss, but they need to play like it. Ole Miss currently sits as a 16.5-point favorite with a game total set at 63.5 points. Ole Miss looks good to be able to cover this spread. They outmatch Georgia Tech across the board, and Kiffin may look to light up the scoreboard, even if the game gets out of hand.

If the Rebels want to stay in the minds on national critics, they are going to want to win by an impressive margin to make the country really take notice. It would not be surprising to see Georgia Tech hang in the game through the first half, but Ole Miss should run away with this ball game on Saturday in Atlanta.
