Khalil Herbert Fantasy Football Ranking: Bears Running Back Should Shine Week 4 in David Montgomery’s Absence

Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert made the most of his opportunity in Week 3.

In the Bears’ 23-20 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon, Herbert ran 20 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 12 yards.

Earlier in the week, the Bears officially ruled out David Montgomery with the ankle injury for Week 4, meaning Herbert will once again take over as the featured running back against the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon.

Khalil Herbert Week 4 Fantasy Football Ranking

Per or Stokastic NFL Start/Sit Fantasy Football Rankings for Week 4, Herbert currently sits as the No. 9 running back for Week 4. That ranks behind Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Taylor, Saquon Barkley, Leonard Fournette, Austin Ekeler, Jamaal Williams, Joe Mixon and Nick Chubb.

With rain expected in New York on Sunday, the Bears could lean into the running game even more than they already have through the first three weeks of the season.

So far, Bears quarterback Justin Fields has just 23 completions to go along with two touchdowns and four interceptions.

“It is a concern,” Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said of his passing game. “We want to get better there. We want to improve. All of those things are being looked at.”

While the time may come when the Bears decide to unleash Fields to really see what they have at the quarterback position, don’t expect it to come in a rainy New York on Sunday.

Even with Montgomery out, the Bears have shown that can run the ball down throats in the early going, and they’ll likely continue to lean on that strength until teams take it away from them altogether.

Expect Herbert to get the ball early and often in Week 4.
