Is Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard in for a big afternoon against the Chicago Bears? There’s some added intrigued on Pollard’s fantasy football value following the report late Sunday night that Cowboys starting running back Ezekiel Elliot is not expected to play due to a knee injury.

So far, the Cowboys have deployed a true tandem-style backfield with Pollard and Elliott, but it’s been Pollard who has seen more production thus far. He currently has 67 rushes for 375 yards on the season, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He also has 11 receptions for 105 yards on the season.
“Oh I think they both hold their own,” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said of his two backs. “I look at both of those guys as No. 1 runners, or however you want to categorize it. Tony can play. I think when you look at running backs — I know how I define them — [it’s about] their ability to play on all three downs, and Zeke and Tony both have that ability. Zeke’s done it his whole career. So I think they’re definitely a tandem and that’s obviously a focal point for us.”
Pollard will now have an opportunity to prove that he’s worthy of being a true every down back in the NFL in a featured role without Elliott in action, and he’ll be going up against a Bears defense that ranks 25th in fantasy football points allowed to running backs.
