NFL Week 6 Player Prop Bets: Target Hurts’ & Mariota’s INT Props Against Stout Defenses on Sunday (October 16)

Interception props continue to grow in popularity as more folks discover the different player prop options across the industry. With over half the quarterbacks throwing an INT each week, these props make for a thrilling betting experience knowing it only takes one to cash.

There are several quarterbacks on Sunday’s slate that are going up against tough defenses, making for some intriguing INT odds. Let’s analyze some of those matchups to find the best bets.

Best NFL Bets Today: Game Tips & Betting Predictions

San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Flacons remain the only undefeated team against the spread heading into Week 6. They enter Sunday with a 2-3 record straight up and will have a tough matchup going up against a stout San Francisco defense. The loss of starting running back Cordarrelle Patterson significantly weakens Atlanta’s offense. They will catch a slight break against the Niners who are dealing with several injuries to their defensive line, but despite all the adversity no opponent has scored more than 20 points on them thus far.

Quarterback Marcus Mariota has completed only 57.2% of his passes this season to go along with four touchdowns and four interceptions. He has been sacked 12 times which is ninth most amongst QBs. Mariota has been forced to rely on rookie wide receiver Drake London who is accounting for 33% of the teams passing targets. No Calvin Ridley (suspension) and a banged up Kyle Pitts has left the Falcons with limited options through the air.

San Francisco is fresh off of a 37-15 beat down of the Panthers. They finished with 6 sacks and 1 interception which was a pick six off Baker Mayfield in the first half of last weeks matchup. The Niners have the top-ranked defense by DVOA, anchored by their top-ranked rushing defense and fifth-ranked passing defense. Their defense has secured 5 interceptions on the season with at least one pick in four of fives games.

Mariota’s passing attempts line is set at 27.5 attempts, which he has only surpassed once this season. This line leads me to believe that the Falcons will put an emphasis on the passing game given the 49ers have the top ranked rushing defense. If the Niners offense can get going early, it will force the Falcons to play from behind. Seeing Mariota has thrown an INT in three of fives games this season, I am going to take my changes at him to throw one for plus-money odds at home on Sunday.

Best NFL Bet For Today’s Game: Marcus Mariota Over 0.5 INTs (+105)

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are still the only undefeated team in the NFL after securing a 20-17 victory over the Cardinals on the road in Week 5. They are back home on Sunday to host the 4-1 Dallas Cowboys. Jalen Hurts has been impressive for this Philadelphia squad, especially on the ground with six rushing touchdowns through the first five weeks. He will need to continue to find ways to use his legs on Sunday going up against a Dallas defense that loves to bring the pressure ranking second in the league with 20 sacks. The Eagles enter Sunday as 6.5-point home favorites for this crucial divisional matchup.

Philadelphia will look to control the game with their offense, so expect them to be on the field a lot more than the Dallas offense. The Cowboys defense has been the key factor in this team starting off with a 4-1 record. As a team they have 5 interceptions and 20 sacks on the season. Micah Parsons has been a menace to the quarterback while their secondary loves to take risks and go for the big play interceptions, especially Trevon Diggs. The Dallas defense has an interception in four of five games thus far.

Hurts has 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the season with both INTs coming at home against Jacksonville and Minnesota, two defenses that are not up to the strength of the Cowboys defense unit. Hurts threw two picks in his only matchup against Dallas last season, one being a pick six by Diggs. He has thrown multiple interceptions in both his career starts against the Cowboys and Diggs secured an INT in both games. Hurts’ passing attempts are set at 32.5 attempts for Sunday’s matchup. There should be plenty of opportunity through the air. While the Eagles can easily pull this one off at home against Cooper Rush and the Cowboys, Dallas will need continue to rely on there defense to step up until they get Dak Prescott back in the lineup. Ride the hot defense and give me Hurts to throw an interception on Sunday night.

Best NFL Bet For Today’s Game: Jalen Hurts OVER 0.5 INTs (-115)
