Tonight’s NHL Best Bets

Alex Newhook Over 0.5 Points +118:

Often hidden among the defending champion Avalanche’s incredibly deep roster is Alex Newhook, who entered the league as a can’t miss prospect after a stunning college career with Boston University and has remained a strong player the NHL level.

With Arturri Lehkonen now joining the list of absent Avalanche forwards Newhook is being elevated to a top-six role for tonight’s contest, and most importantly gets a spot on the Avalanche’s vaunted top powerplay unit.

In such a dream spot for production versus a very poor defensive side being the Philadelphia Flyers, Newhook is very live to record a point, and +118 is an excellent price which likely will not exist for many games moving forward if the talented 21-year-old remains in such positions in the lineup.

Alex Galchenyuk +550 Anytime Goalscorer (Avalanche versus Flyers):

Alex Galchenyuk’s upside has always been his scoring touch, which has been very hit or miss throughout his up and down NHL career, and has now attracted the NHL’s cup champions to swing for the fences in a currently dire situation.

Galchenyuk will skate alongside Nathan Mackinnon to start this contest on the Avs’ top line, and in turn is going to spend lots of time in the offensive zone and will likely get some quality chances to break through with his first of the season.

+550 is a great price to back a rare Galchenyuk tally in turn, as he is simply not going to skate in a better matchup or position to display what has at times been an impressive scoring touch at the NHL level.

Galchenyuk and Martin Kaut will both also be interesting DFS options and will be strong options to round out cheaper Avalanche stacks.

Travis Konecny Anytime Goalscorer +225 (Avalanche versus Flyers):

Sticking with the Avalanche versus Flyers contest we have Travis Konecny, who has quietly played at an incredibly high level on a treacherous Philadelphia roster this season.

Konecny has recorded goals in four of his last five contests and has peppered the opposition net with 3.5 shots on goal per game throughout that sample.

As covered Colorado is simply not skating anywhere near its best lineup tonight, and the Flyers should be more live to score three or more goals in this contest than oddsmakers are suggesting in turn.

Backing Konecny, whose form has been incredibly strong to the eye on a night in night out basis to keep rolling projects to be a strong play, and at +225 oddsmakers are giving a good price for the Flyers clear-cut best skater to keep thriving Monday.
