Best NHL Parlay Today: Alex Ovechkin and Auston Matthews Among Best Picks

Two of the NHL’s great goal scorers are going to be heavily relied upon for offence Friday, as Auston Matthews and Alex Ovechkin will look to lead their sides to victory amid other roster concerns. Dallas will look to bring us home after that at +100 to cover the puck-line versus San Jose. Let’s dive into the best NHL parlay for tonight.

Altogether today’s parlay prices out at +529 on FanDuel, and be sure to visit the OddsShopper tool for more NHL best bets.

Best NHL Parlay Bet Tonight | Nov. 11

Auston Matthews Anytime Goal -102 (Penguins versus Maple Leafs)

After a slow start to the season, Auston Matthews has trended into better offensive form with four goals and seven points over his last five contests.

All season long Matthews has generated chances at a nearly identical clip to what we saw a season ago, when Matthews became the NHL’s first 60 goal scorer since 2012, and eventually a higher output of goal was due.

A season ago Matthews scored at least one goal in 57.5% of games, and it’s likely that number holds in 2022-23, so on that notion alone there is value here as -102 suggests an implied probability of 50.5%.

The Penguins are a favorable matchup for a number of reasons though, and there’s a valid case as to why Matthews may be scoring more than 57% of the time tonight even.

Pittsburgh has allowed 3.46 goals against per game, with an xGA/60 of 3.22, which is exactly the middle of the pack.

Pittsburgh’s middling defensive play has not been covered up by the goaltending tandem of Tristan Jarry and Casey DeSmith, and tonight the Penguins will go with DeSmith.

DeSmith has been the better of the two options with a +1.0 goals saved above expected rating and .913 save % but based upon career splits holding down such strong numbers may be unlikely.

Pittsburgh should be able to generate some offence themselves against Erik Kallgren however, and it’s quite likely Matthews is going to play big minutes as Toronto look to manage an important victory, and scenarios where Toronto roll all four lines for most of the contest seem unlikely.

Alex Ovechkin Over 3.5 Shots on Goal -170 (Lightning versus Capitals)

There’s a quiet hatred between the Lightning and Capitals dating back to the 2017-18 seven game Eastern Conference Final and it seems Alex Ovechkin, Nikita Kucherov, and the rest of the stars are always very up for these matchups.

Last year versus Tampa Ovechkin averaged 6 shots on goal and cashed this line in all three matchups.

With a ton of key offensive pieces missing from the lineup Caps’ Captain will likely need to manage a stellar showing Friday for his side to have any chance, and it has been clear over the last three games just how hard Ovechkin is trying to make a difference.

Ovechkin has generated a ridiculous total of 27 attempts on goal over the last three games, which lead to a surprisingly low average of just 4 shots on goal per game.

Tampa has not been entirely dominant defensively yet this season either and has allowed a middle of the pack SA/60 rate of 31.56 with an xGA/60 of 3.57.

Dallas Stars -1.5 +100 (Sharks vs. Stars)

Dallas has covered the puck-line in eight of its first 13 contests this season and enter in a favorable spot to keep what has been a wildly profitable trend rolling Friday night.

The Stars are also catching San Jose on night two of a road back-to-back situation, which has been another extremely profitable trend puck-line wise this season.

San Jose’s current roster is quite barren and features very little in the way of capable scoring talent outside of Timo Meier, Tomas Hertl, and Erik Karlsson.

San Jose’s awful 3-9-3 record comes with a 31st ranked goal per game average of 2.60, and a goal differential of -15.

Dallas has been one of the NHL’s better sides this season and has played to a 10th best expected goals for rating of 52.93 with a stellar +15 goal differential.

The Stars played arguably its worst contest of the season last time out versus Winnipeg in a 5-1 loss and should be up for this one and are in an excellent spot to bounce-back.
