The WNBA comes back tonight with a five-game board after a seventeen-day break around the FIBA Women's World Cup, and the first thing the market did was disagree with itself about a point guard's knee. The de-vigged consensus has already made one Under a favorite. One book is still paying plus money on it. That gap is the widest on the board by a mile, and it is the reason tonight's ticket exists.
It is also the reason the ticket is two legs and not three: the next Caesars number on the board is a rebound Under on a player whose minutes just went up, and I am not taking that. The ledger is 2-6. Five straight losses. Not good. It gets said out loud below, next to the row I left off on purpose.
The Quick Answer
The WNBA parlay of the day is a two-leg Caesars ticket for Thursday, September 17: Georgia Amoore Under 3.5 assists (+112) in Washington Mystics at Chicago Sky (8:00 PM ET) and Alyssa Thomas Under 8.5 rebounds (-130) in Phoenix Mercury at Portland Fire (10:00 PM ET). The combined price pays about +275 against a de-vigged fair near +223, a ticket-level edge of roughly 16%. Amoore is questionable with a knee, and that is not a footnote, it is the bet. The full eight-row board, the leg the injury report talked me out of, and the ledger graded in public are below.
Thursday's Board: Five Games, Eight Live Rows
Five WNBA games tip tonight, and our screen graded eight rows past fair across four of them; Connecticut at Atlanta, the night's first tip, produced nothing worth a seat. Four more rows in the same capture belong to Friday's games, and they get a sentence at the end of this section and nothing else.
| Play (Thursday Only) | Game (Tip ET) | Book & Price | Fair | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Georgia Amoore Under 3.5 Assists | Mystics @ Sky (8:00 PM) | Caesars +112 | -117 | 14.5% |
| Paige Bueckers Under 21.5 Points | Sparks @ Wings (8:00 PM) | Hard Rock -110 | -117 | 2.9% |
| Azurá Stevens Under 10.5 Points | Mystics @ Sky (8:00 PM) | DraftKings +101 | -104 | 2.5% |
| Awak Kuier Under 6.5 Rebounds | Sparks @ Wings (8:00 PM) | Caesars +100 | -105 | 2.4% |
| Arike Ogunbowale Under 1.5 Threes | Sparks @ Wings (8:00 PM) | DraftKings +133 | +128 | 2.2% |
| Chelsea Gray Under 1.5 Threes | Aces @ Storm (10:00 PM) | DraftKings -115 | -119 | 1.6% |
| Alyssa Thomas Under 8.5 Rebounds | Mercury @ Fire (10:00 PM) | Caesars -130 | -134 | 1.3% |
| Arike Ogunbowale Under 17.5 Points | Sparks @ Wings (8:00 PM) | DraftKings -108 | -110 | 0.9% |
Read the first row against the other seven. Amoore's Under grades five times wider than the next-best number on the board, and it is the one row where the book and the consensus are not even close on the price. Every other edge here is a lean of a point or two. That row is the whole argument, so the slip gets built around its book. DraftKings holds four rows across three games too, but none of them is the Amoore row, and a slip without that row is a slip without a reason. Caesars holds it plus two more games, and the one-leg-per-game, one-book structure this series runs on gives me the choice of both or one of them. I take one, and the reasons are in the Kuier section. A sidebar for anyone screen-shopping ahead: Jonquel Jones Under 1.5 threes at DraftKings +124 graded 3.2% past fair in the same capture, but the New York Liberty play Friday in Minnesota, and the two Olivia Miles rows sit in that same Friday game. Kelsey Mitchell's row is a separate Friday game, Indiana at Toronto. None of that belongs on a Thursday ticket.
Leg 1: Georgia Amoore Under 3.5 Assists (+112)
This leg is a minutes bet wearing an assist prop's jersey. Amoore is listed questionable for tonight with a knee, per Jarrett Spence of Mystics Lead, and the market has already priced what that usually means. The de-vigged consensus makes her Under 3.5 assists a 54% proposition, fair -117. Caesars still pays +112 on it. That is a 14.5% gap on a coin the market says is weighted toward the Under, and plus money on a favorite is the cleanest thing a parlay leg can be.
Here is why the knee is the case and not the caveat. Amoore has started all 40 Washington games this season at 23.0 minutes a night, and her assist average sits at 3.5, dead on the number. The average hides the split that matters. In the seven games she played 28 minutes or more, her assist counts were 4, 5, 5, 5, 7, 8 and 4, over the number every single time. In the ten games she played 20 minutes or fewer, she stayed under in nine of them. Full minutes, she clears it. Short minutes, she does not. A knee that makes a point guard questionable on Wednesday night does not usually turn into 30 minutes on Thursday, and every minute the Mystics trim from her is a minute the Under gets back.
The counterargument belongs in print. Sonia Citron is out tonight for personal reasons, and a Washington offense missing Citron runs more of its possessions through the point guard who is left. The Mystics also finished their pre-break stretch with Amoore handing out five assists in 25 minutes at Los Angeles, so the recent form is not a slam dunk for the Under either: five of her last ten games landed under 3.5, and 22 of 40 on the season. This is a 54% bet, not a 70% bet, and the price is the edge. Washington also averages just 19.6 assists a game as a team, fewer than Chicago's 21.5, and walks into a Chicago team that is missing Skylar Diggins, Rickea Jackson and DiJonai Carrington with Natasha Cloud questionable. Nobody in that game is built to push tempo, and the total on the board is the lowest of the five.
One rule before you fire: if Amoore is ruled out, the book generally voids the leg, and the ticket collapses to Thomas alone at -130. That is not a parlay, and it is not this column's bet. A scratch means no ticket tonight, not a smaller one.
Leg 2: Alyssa Thomas Under 8.5 Rebounds (-130)
The second leg is the priced lean, and I will not dress it up. Thomas's Under de-vigs to 57%, fair -134, and Caesars sells it at -130, a 1.3% edge that exists to turn a single bet into a parlay without giving the first leg's math back. On its own it is a pass. Next to Amoore it is a Caesars number in a game the first leg does not touch, and that is the job.
The case is about what Thomas is for Phoenix. With Kelsey Plum done for the season, the Mercury's offense runs through Thomas's hands, 8.4 assists a game on 33.5 minutes on the season, and her rebounding sits at 7.7, eight-tenths of a board under tonight's 8.5 line. She has landed under 8.5 in 25 of 38 games this season, better than the market's 57%. The line is set a board above her average because the market has been watching the same August I have.
That August is the risk, in print where it belongs. Over her last ten games Thomas averaged 9.4 rebounds, with a 16-board night against Atlanta and five double-digit games, and only five of those ten stayed under. Portland is also the thinnest roster on the board tonight, seven players listed out including Teja Oblak, Bridget Carleton, Carla Leite and Megan DiLeo, and the Fire pull down 30.3 rebounds a game, the fewest of the four teams on this ticket. Fewer Portland bodies means more loose boards for a forward who plays 33 minutes. Kahleah Copper is on the report with a groin injury, listed out on one feed and questionable in the note under it, and if she sits, more of everything flows through Thomas. I see all of it. The market saw it too and still made the Under a 57% favorite, and I am getting it four cents cheaper than fair. That is a lean, sized like one.
The correlation check: two legs, two arenas, no shared script. Amoore's game in Chicago tips two hours before Thomas's in Portland, and nothing that happens to a Mystics point guard's minutes moves a Mercury forward's rebounds. Nothing here is a same-game package; the two probabilities multiply clean, which is the license for the math below.
The Leg I Left Off: Awak Kuier Under 6.5 Rebounds (+100)
Kuier's Under at Caesars +100 grades 2.4% past fair, sits in a third arena, and would have made tonight a three-leg Caesars ticket paying about +650 against a +531 fair. On the spreadsheet that is a better slip. On the injury report it is a trap, and the injury report outranks the spreadsheet every time.
The season number is what makes the Under look cheap: 3.8 rebounds a game in 17.7 minutes across 37 games, with 30 of those 37 landing under 6.5. Then look at the five games before the break, all of them starts. Kuier pulled 8, 12, 7, 8 and 7 rebounds in 20 to 36 minutes. Zero unders. Now Alanna Smith, who started next to her in the Dallas frontcourt and played 17 minutes in the last game before the break, is out tonight with a lower leg injury. Smith's minutes go somewhere, and the somewhere is a forward who was already clearing this number in a bigger role. Every prop bettor falls for it once: betting the season average on the night the role changed. This row is that night. The board prices the season. I bet tonight.
The De-Vig Math: +223 Fair, +275 Payout
The worked example, using only the prices above:
- The payout. Convert each price to decimal odds and multiply: 2.12 (Amoore at +112) x 1.77 (Thomas at -130) = 3.75, about a +275 American price. A $100 ticket profits about $275 if both legs cash.
- The fair price. The de-vigged win probabilities are 54.0% and 57.3%. Independent games multiply straight: the ticket cashes about 30.9% of the time, a fair price near +223.
- The edge. Getting +275 on a +223 proposition is a ticket-level edge around 16%, and nearly all of it is the first leg's. The expected value calculator guide walks the multiplication step by step.

Read the results column the way a bettor should, not the way a fan would. Five straight losses is 2-6, and there is no version of this column that pretends otherwise. Now read how they lost. Three of the last four slips cashed every leg but one: Brink and Harrison both came in on the 28th while Gray handed out one assist too many, and Atkins and the Valkyries both came in on the 30th while Shepard scored 17. Every extra leg is another single stat that can kill a ticket the other legs already won, which is the whole reason tonight has two legs instead of three, and why the Kuier row stayed on the board. The Parlay Builder is where this gets checked before it gets bet: load both legs, and if the combined price you are offered has drifted below the +223 fair, the ticket is a pass. These lines were captured Thursday morning and the first tip is 8:00 PM ET, so there are hours for the numbers to move, and one knee report that will move them.

The Numbers Stranded Off The Slip
The one-book rule strands the second-widest edge on the board, and the honest version of this column names it. Paige Bueckers Under 21.5 points at Hard Rock -110 grades 2.9% past fair, and it is a real bet on its own: she averages 20.5 a game, 20 of her 39 box scores landed under this line, and Dallas is a clear home favorite against the Sparks in the game with the highest total on the board, so the script cuts both ways: more possessions for her, and fewer fourth-quarter minutes if the Wings run away with it. The 2.9% stands on the de-vig, not the script. That makes it a solo bet, not parlay filler, and it lives at Hard Rock anyway, so it cannot share a slip with the Amoore leg. The same Dallas game holds Arike Ogunbowale twice, Under 1.5 threes at DraftKings +133 and Under 17.5 points at DraftKings -108, and the threes row is the more interesting one at plus money: she makes 1.8 a night on 5.3 attempts and hit the Under in exactly half of her 40 games, so the de-vig makes her a 43.9% shot to stay under and DraftKings is only charging you for 42.9%, which is where the 2.2% comes from. Her own log says 50%, which is why I would rather have this row than the points row beneath it.
In Chicago, Azurá Stevens Under 10.5 points at DraftKings +101 shares Amoore's game and loses the seat on the one-leg rule. It also has a problem the price does not show: with Diggins, Jackson and Carrington out, somebody has to shoot for the Sky, and a forward averaging 10.7 points is the most likely somebody. Seven of her last ten games stayed under the number, which is why the row grades past fair, but I would rather bet the Chicago injury list than fade it. Anyone shopping positive-EV plays one at a time has the Bueckers row and the Ogunbowale threes tonight, and Chelsea Gray Under 1.5 threes at DraftKings -115 in Seattle for a 37% shooter who has not made a three in her last three games.
How To Size It
A 30.9% ticket at +275 prices to a full-Kelly stake near 5.8% of bankroll, and I take a quarter of that, call it 1.5%, per standard bankroll management. That is about double the 0.7% the August 28 three-leg slip earned, on purpose. Two legs cash about three nights in ten; the three-leg builds price closer to one in six, and the two this column has run both lost. Size to the shape, not the payout, and size it knowing the whole stake rides on a knee report that lands hours after these prices were captured.
- The hard deadline is 8:00 PM ET in Chicago; after that, the Amoore leg is gone and the ticket with it.
- Amoore's knee decides whether there is a ticket at all; a scratch means no bet. Copper's status decides how much of the Mercury offense runs through Thomas, and a Copper scratch makes the Thomas leg thinner, not fatter.
- If Caesars' combined number drifts below the +223 fair, it is a pass, not a smaller bet.

FAQ
Why does tonight's WNBA parlay have two legs when the last two editions had three?
Because the third Caesars leg on the board was a rebound Under on Awak Kuier, and Dallas ruled Alanna Smith out for tonight. Kuier cleared 6.5 rebounds in each of her last five games before the break, all starts, and Smith's minutes now go to her. A three-leg version would have paid about +650 against a +531 fair, but the extra leg was the one the injury report argued against, and the last two three-leg slips each died on a single leg while the other two cashed.
What happens to the parlay if Georgia Amoore doesn't play?
Sportsbooks generally void a player prop when the player never enters, and a voided leg reprices the parlay to whatever is left. Here that leaves Alyssa Thomas alone at -130, which is a single bet with a 1.3% edge, not a parlay. If Amoore is ruled out, this column's bet is off for the night. Check the final injury report before you fire.
Amoore averages 3.5 assists. Why is her Under the widest edge on the board?
Because the average is two players. When she plays 28 minutes or more she has cleared 3.5 in all seven such games this season; when she plays 20 or fewer she has stayed under in nine of ten. She is questionable with a knee, and the de-vigged consensus has already moved the Under to a 54% favorite, fair -117. Caesars still pays +112, which is the gap.
The Bottom Line
The WNBA came back from its break with a board that hands this series one real number and a lot of leans. The real number is a point guard's knee, priced as a favorite by the market and as an underdog by one book, and the ticket is built on that gap plus one priced lean in Portland that turns it into a parlay without spending any of the edge. The row that would have made it three legs stays on the board because Dallas's injury report says the opposite of its season average. The ledger is 2-6 and knows it; tonight the gap is one leg wide, and I would rather bet one honest gap than three leans. The part that matters now is the clock. These prices were captured at 9:42 AM ET and the Mystics tip at 8:00 PM ET in Chicago, so the number to re-check before you fire is a single one: whether Caesars still shows +112 on Amoore's Under after Washington's final report. If it does and she is in, the ticket is live. If she is out, close the app.
