Trinidad Chambliss threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns and ran in the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter on Saturday night, as No. 8 Ole Miss beat No. 7 LSU 32-24 in Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford. He did it against the coach who had recruited him out of Division II two years ago, and without his top running back, Kewan Lacy, who left with a shoulder injury.
By Sunday morning the market on who goes first in the 2027 NFL draft had tripled Chambliss' price. On Kalshi, he went from a 5-cent afterthought to 15 cents and third on the board, behind only Arch Manning at 29 and Darian Mensah at 17. Nothing else on the board moved more than four cents in either direction.
The complication is printed on his birth certificate. Aug. 24, 2002 makes him 24 today, and 25 the first time he would take an NFL snap.

The 24-Year-Old Problem
Twenty-five-year-old rookie quarterbacks are a tough egg to crack, and teams have said out loud what they think of them.
ESPN's April 2023 feature on draft age quoted John Beck, taken in the second round in 2007 at 25, on what a team told him to his face: "Because of your age, you would not truly be getting an opportunity to be a starter until you're 29 years old. We loved everything about you, except your age did not fit with our plans."
The gentler version came in the same piece from Chris Weinke, drafted in the fourth round in 2001 at 28 and now Georgia Tech's co-offensive coordinator: "You would probably lean toward the younger guy, knowing that you could probably have him for a longer time, maybe a little healthier. But you're going to lose out on the experience part and the maturity part that you would get with a 25-year-old."
Age costs a team years on the back end and buys polish on the front end, and front offices have historically priced the back end higher.
Chambliss missed the 2022 season at Ferris State with a respiratory illness, then transferred to Ole Miss in 2025. The Division II detour that made Saturday's story so good is the same detour that put two extra candles on the cake a general manager will be looking at in April 2027.
Saturday gave the market a performance, not a projection. No draft evaluator has published a read on how his arm, his pocket movement or his third-down decisions translate to Sundays. The board moved ten cents on a box score.
Where The Ten Cents Came From
Manning did not budge. He sat at 29 percent on the day, exactly where he closed Saturday, which means the money that arrived for Chambliss came out of the names directly behind the favorite.
Mensah slipped a point to 17. Dante Moore dropped four to 14. CJ Carr dropped two to 13. Jeremiah Smith held at 9 and Drew Mestemaker ticked up a point to 5.
So this was a re-sort of the second tier rather than a run at the top of the board. Whoever bought Chambliss on Sunday morning was buying him as competition for Mensah, Moore and Carr, and left the favorite alone.
September Of The Year Before Decides Nothing
This board has done exactly this before, to the man sitting one spot above him. Mensah's price ran at roughly 5 to 10 percent from April through July, climbed through August into September, spiked near 20 and settled at 17. Manning's own line has swung between roughly 20 and 45 percent across the same stretch before landing at 29. Prices here move like a fever chart and have been moving all summer.
Size it honestly: The market has traded about $348,000 in total since April 2026.
And the runway is long. Before any of this settles, a full NFL season has to produce a draft order, a specific team has to end up holding the first pick, and that team has to decide it wants a quarterback at all. Chambliss has most of a college season left to either confirm Sunday morning's ten cents or hand them back.
