Ole Miss just played its biggest home game in years. Maybe ever.
Lane Kiffin came back to Oxford with LSU. College GameDay came with him. It was the first time the two teams met as top-10 teams since 1962, and the Rebels won 32-24. Six days later, No. 4 Ole Miss plays its first true road game of the season, in the Swamp, against a Florida team that has scored 40 or more in every game.
The market has Florida, ranked 17 spots lower, as a 3.5-point favorite. That tells you how much it respects the spot. Before I tell you where I landed, tell me how you see it.

The game is decided by 3 points or less
21% market chance · No single contract, so this is two added together: Florida by 1 to 3 is about 12%, Ole Miss by 1 to 3 about 9%.
What has to happen
- Florida wins but can't pull away. At Auburn, a 10-point lead going into the fourth quarter ended as a 44-39 finish.
- Ole Miss does what it did against Louisville, where it won 41-38 on a 48-yard field goal at the end.
- Florida's run game and Chambliss's arm cancel each other out.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| BEST | Ole Miss +3.5 | 54¢$10 → $18.52 | Wins on every Florida win by 3 or fewer and every Ole Miss win. It's the close-game ticket. |
| ALSO | Florida to win + Ole Miss +3.5 | $1.13 | The middle. Florida by 1 to 3 cashes both for $2.00. Anything else cashes one and loses 13¢. |
| SKIP | Alt lines like Florida -7.5 | 35¢$10 → $28.57 | If you think it's close, an alt line bets on the margin you just said won't happen. |
My readCould be a back-and-forth game where a Florida moneyline ticket and Ole Miss with the points both cash.
Florida wins by 14 or more
24% market chance · Florida by 14 or more costs 24¢. Florida by 17 or more is 20¢.
What has to happen
- The hangover shows up early and never leaves.
- Jadan Baugh keeps running like this: 458 yards and 8 touchdowns on 54 carries.
- Ole Miss's banged-up defense can't hold up. Two cornerbacks and two linebackers are out, and it gave up 469 yards to Louisville.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| BEST | Florida by 14 or more | 24¢$10 → $41.67 | If you see a blowout, get paid like it. |
| ALSO | Florida -3.5 | 47¢$10 → $21.28 | The safer version. Still wins if the rout turns into a 7-point game. |
| SKIP | Florida to win | 59¢$10 → $16.95 | Pays the same for a 1-point win as a 21-point win. |
My readOle Miss's offense probably keeps the game from getting out of hand, but it's the higher-upside version of backing Florida.
Ole Miss wins
42% market chance · Ole Miss to win costs 42¢.
What has to happen
- Trinidad Chambliss keeps throwing: 924 yards, 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in three games, including 363 against LSU.
- Florida's pass defense stays beatable. Auburn threw for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns on it.
- Ole Miss handles its first true road game. The Louisville win was in Nashville.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| BEST | Ole Miss to win | 42¢$10 → $23.81 | The cleanest way to bet the No. 4 team as an underdog. |
| ALSO | Ole Miss +3.5 | 54¢$10 → $18.52 | Pays less, but also wins if Florida gets there by a field goal. |
| SKIP | Ole Miss by 7 or more | 27¢$10 → $37.04 | Needs the Rebels to win comfortably on the road, six days after the Kiffin game. |
My readChambliss is the best player on the field, and that's the case for backing the Rebels. I personally think Florida can keep him in check and control the game overall.
Florida leads at halftime
53% market chance · Florida wins the first half costs 53¢.
What has to happen
- Ole Miss comes out flat six days after beating Kiffin in front of GameDay.
- Florida starts fast again. It has led at halftime in all three games, including 20-17 at Auburn.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| BEST | Florida wins 1st half | 53¢$10 → $18.87 | Bets the hangover where it's most likely to show: early. |
| ALSO | Florida 1st half + Florida game | 50¢$10 → $20.00 | Pays if the fast start holds up. Thin market, check the price. |
| SKIP | Florida -3.5 | 47¢$10 → $21.28 | If the hangover is your whole case, it can wear off by the fourth quarter. Bet the half. |
My readIt's hard to know the effects of last week, but I do think a slow start for Ole Miss is very possible.
The teams combine for 60 or more
49% market chance · Over 59.5 costs 49¢. 72 or more is 24¢.
What has to happen
- Florida keeps scoring 40: 66, 52 and 44 so far.
- Ole Miss keeps up. It scored 41, 41 and 32, and Louisville put 38 on its defense.
- Auburn's 39 against Florida wasn't a fluke.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| BEST | Over 59.5 | 49¢$10 → $20.41 | The straight version of the script. |
| ALSO | Florida over 30.5 points | 53¢$10 → $18.87 | If you like Florida and points, bet Florida's points. |
| SKIP | Over 71.5 | 24¢$10 → $41.67 | Needs both teams in the mid-30s. That's a track meet plus a bad defense. |
My readThe number is lofty, but I can see it. Both offenses have elite talent, and both defenses have already shown some glaring weaknesses to start the season.
Why No. 21 Is Favored Over No. 4
A top-five team getting points from No. 21 shows how difficult road SEC matchups are, especially after a huge test last week.
Florida: Dominating Both Lines Of Scrimmage
Nobody Runs On Florida
Florida has allowed 284 rushing yards on 93 carries in three games, 3.1 a carry. Florida Atlantic managed 3.2, Campbell 2.5, and Auburn 3.3. Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown is a dual threat, and Florida took away his legs: 65 yards on 18 carries.
Florida Runs On Everybody
On the other side of the ball, Florida has run for 738 yards on 124 carries, 6.0 a carry. Jadan Baugh has 458 yards and 8 touchdowns on 54 carries, and the Gators have scored 66, 52 and 44 points. Aaron Philo has barely had to carry it: 47 of 64 for 721 yards.
The Auburn Test
The first two wins came against Florida Atlantic and Campbell, so the road trip to Auburn was the real test. Florida ran 53 times for 243 yards, held the ball for 39 minutes, and won 44-39. The one thing Auburn could do was throw: Brown passed for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns. The lines won the game. The pass defense still has work to do.
Ole Miss: Battle Tested, Never On The Road
The Kiffin Game
Last Saturday was Lane Kiffin's first game back in Oxford since leaving for LSU, with GameDay on campus and two top-10 teams. Ole Miss won 32-24. How a team plays six days after a night like that is hard to measure, and it matters.
First True Road Game
Ole Miss beat Louisville 41-38 in Nashville, then played Charlotte and LSU at home. Saturday is its first game in someone else's stadium, and it arrives shorthanded on defense: cornerbacks Dorian Barney and Victor Lincoln Jr. and linebackers Ant Davis Jr. and JaMichael Garrett are out, and three more defensive backs are questionable.
Chambliss Carries It
Trinidad Chambliss has completed 77 of 110 passes for 924 yards, 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, and threw for 363 against LSU. The run game is quieter: Kewan Lacy has 191 yards on 39 carries, and he is questionable Saturday after an upper-body injury in the second half against LSU. Pete Golding called him a game-time decision.
My Take
Florida's front has stopped the run all year, and Ole Miss comes in off its most emotional win in years with a stiff road test in front of them. Chambliss is great, but the Gators will do enough here at home to hold serve, cover this number and move to 4-0.
Nothing here is financial advice.
