The WNBA best bets today come from a two-game Thursday, August 27, and before I give you the card, look at what is missing from it. Yesterday's edition led with Veronica Burton, but its widest number was a Kelsey Plum Over priced for Thursday, and the whole argument was timing: bet it early or not at all, because the number would not survive contact with the news cycle. Today's capture came back with no Plum row at all, and she is on the injury report besides. That disappearing act is the best argument for how to play tonight, and I will finish that story when we get to Phoenix. What is left is the other kind of Thursday: ten props cleared our de-vig across Valkyries-Liberty at 8:00 p.m. ET and Mystics-Mercury at 10:00 p.m. ET, nine Unders and a single Over, with the widest edge at +5.7% on Sabrina Ionescu's assists line. Every one of these is a small-limit, price-or-nothing play, and the work tonight is sequencing: one dog-priced number worth taking now, a few rows that need an active body confirmed first, and two Friday prices that should not be touched for a day.

The Quick Answer
The best WNBA bet today is Sabrina Ionescu Under 4.5 assists at +122 on FanDuel, a +5.7% edge against our de-vigged fair price of +110, in the Valkyries-Liberty game at 8:00 p.m. ET. Kayla Thornton Under 4.5 rebounds (-130, Bet365, +4.1%) in the same game and Georgia Amoore Under 7.5 points (-125, HardRock, +4.0%) in Mystics-Mercury are the next two. Ten props cleared across the two games, no game line cleared in either, and the Plum Over yesterday's edition called the widest number in its capture is gone from the board on exactly the schedule we flagged. The full graded board, the Golden State rotation math, and the Plum postscript are below.
Odds captured 2026-08-27 at 17:14 UTC (1:14 p.m. ET). Every fair price in this piece is our own de-vigged number from the OddsShopper live odds screen, which strips the vig from both sides of a market so you can see what a bet is actually worth. The August 26 edition worked two games plus a Thursday number that would not wait; this one settles that bet's account.
Tonight's Lead: Sabrina Ionescu Under 4.5 Assists
The early game is Golden State at New York, 8:00 p.m. ET on Prime Video, the 27-11 Valkyries closing a road back-to-back against a 23-15 Liberty team that has gone 10-3 over the last five weeks and already clinched its playoff spot. As of this afternoon's capture, ESPN's Liberty injury report carried exactly one name, Satou Sabally, out since late June and away from the team since mid-August; Ionescu is not on it. Final WNBA reports drop close to tip, so glance at the late report before you bet, because this bet only exists if she plays.
Sabrina Ionescu Under 4.5 assists, +122 (FanDuel), fair +110, +5.7%. Start with what the market itself believes. Ionescu averages 4.8 assists in 30.7 minutes across her 25 games this season, per ESPN's player page, so the line sits just under her rate and the de-vigged consensus calls the Under a small dog at +110, a 47.6% proposition. FanDuel is paying +122 for that same side. That is the entire bet: you are getting twelve extra cents on the side the full market already prices at nearly a coin flip, and it is the widest gap between price and fair that tips tonight. Now the part that argues with me. Sabally has not played since late June, so her absence is not tonight's news; it is already inside Ionescu's 4.8, and it is already inside every number the books hang on this game. The honest worry is simpler: New York's creation has fewer places to live, and a point guard clearing 4.5 assists is the most ordinary outcome on the board. The reason I still make the bet is that the books have had two months to price the post-Sabally shape of this offense, and the consensus still puts the Under within a coin flip of even. The de-vig is not ignoring the usage question, it is pricing it, and FanDuel is the one book paying you a dog premium against its own market's answer. Golden State helps the case at the margins: Veronica Burton leads a backcourt that pressures the ball, and the Valkyries just held Connecticut to 64 points in a 25-point rout. Take +122 or better; anything at even money or shorter and the overlay is gone.
What +5.7% Actually Buys You
Walk the row with me, because the lead edge tonight is a near coin flip wearing a dog price, and sizing should follow the math, not the headline slot. Value is price against true probability, never confidence in a narrative.
What the market believes. De-vigging the assists market leaves a fair price of +110 on the Under, a 47.6% implied probability.
What the price demands. At +122 you risk $100 to win $122, an implied break-even of 45.0%. The market hands you 47.6%; the price only asks for 45.0%.
What that pays. Run 47.6% through a +122 payout and the Under returns just under six cents of expected value per dollar risked, the +5.7% at the top of tonight's card. Honest +EV, and it still loses more often than it wins. One small ticket, not a pillar.

The Rest Of Valkyries-Liberty: Depth On One Side, A Market Fade On The Other
Six more rows live in the early game, and they split into two families. Three belong to Golden State's depth: the Valkyries won 89-64 in Connecticut last night, closing the first half on a 14-0 run, leading 55-27 at the break, and getting a franchise-record 54 points from the bench. The other three are Liberty shooters the de-vigged market has quietly moved off from deep, whatever their season rates say.
Kayla Thornton Under 4.5 rebounds, -130 (Bet365), fair -143, +4.1%. The second-widest edge tonight, and the cleanest role case. Thornton was an All-Star last season; this year she is a 24.2-minute piece of the league's deepest rotation, averaging 7.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per ESPN. The line sits at her season rate, and the de-vigged market makes the Under a -143 favorite anyway. The tension first: last night's rout rested the starters, so fatigue is not the argument. The argument is the shape of this roster and this matchup. Thornton plays 24.2 minutes a night in an offense that just set a franchise record with 54 bench points, so she never has to be the volume answer, and the boards she chases tonight belong to Jonquel Jones, who pulls 9.2 a game on the other side. The consensus fair at -143 says the full market reads it the same way, and Bet365's -130 is thirteen cents better than that number. Half-size, at -130 or better.
Leonie Fiebich Under 1.5 threes, -133 (DraftKings), fair -145, +3.7%. The first of three Liberty three-point Unders on the card, and I want to be straight about what they are, because Fiebich makes 1.9 threes a game on 4.3 attempts per ESPN, and she is two games removed from a 16-game foot-injury absence that she ended by going 3-of-5 from deep for 20 points in Saturday's win over Indiana. A season-rate reader, and a form reader, would take the Over. These rows are market reads, not stat-sheet reads. The de-vig runs both sides of the actual market across the full field of books, and that consensus makes this Under a -145 favorite tonight; DraftKings sells it at -133. I re-pulled the live board this afternoon rather than trust one capture, and the read held: the books price this Under as the favorite in unison, and our fair agrees. The likeliest mechanisms are the two facts in front of us, a shooter finding rhythm off a long layoff and a Golden State defense that just held its opponent to 64, but I will not pretend the market told me which. That divergence is also why this drops to shop-only despite the third-widest edge on the card: when the market and a player's live form argue this loudly, you take the price or you take nothing. Shop-only at -133 or better, and if the number moves to -140, let it go.
Jonquel Jones Under 1.5 threes, +100 (DraftKings), fair -105, +2.4%. Same family, better price shape. Jones averages 1.8 makes on 4.6 attempts, the consensus still tilts the Under to -105, and DraftKings pays even money. A true coin flip where you get the fair-favored side at the dog's price is the kind of row you take small or not at all. Shop-only.
Marine Johannès Under 1.5 threes, -120 (Bet365), fair -126, +2.2%. The thinnest of the three, on the most volatile shooter. Johannès fires 5.7 threes in 21.5 minutes and makes 2.3 a game, per ESPN, which is exactly why the six-cent overlay does not buy much cushion: one hot second quarter beats you. The consensus fair at -126 says the market expects a quieter night. Shop-only, at -120 or better.
Kayla Thornton Under 6.5 points, -105 (Bet365), fair -108, +1.4%. The same Thornton read as the rebounds row, at a third of the overlay. She averages 7.7 points, the line asks for a below-average night, and three cents does not pay for the same risk her rebounds row carries at thirteen. Listed price or nothing.
Kiah Stokes Over 4.5 points, +146 (FanDuel), fair +143, +1.2%. The card's only Over, and it is not a projection that Stokes scores 5. She averages 3.7 points in 22.1 minutes, and fair at +143 says the Over lands about 41% of the time. FanDuel's +146 is three cents above that, and that sliver is the entire bet. This is the row I print so you know the de-vig has no directional agenda; it found one Over tonight and this is it. Strictly shop-only.
The read on this game: seven rows, two ideas and one stray. Golden State's depth means no Valkyrie has to carry counting stats (both Thornton rows), the market is quietly off Liberty shooters from deep tonight (Fiebich, Jones, Johannès), and Stokes's Over is three cents of price, nothing more. Ionescu's row is dog money against the consensus in a game she is cleared to play. Lead with Ionescu, half-size Thornton's rebounds, shop everything else.
Mystics At Mercury: Amoore's Number, And The Plum Postscript
The late game, 10:00 p.m. ET in Phoenix, is the second meeting between these teams in three days; Washington won the first 94-84 on Tuesday. Three rows cleared here, and then there is the row that did not, which is the one with the lesson in it.
Georgia Amoore Under 7.5 points, -125 (HardRock), fair -137, +4.0%. The cleanest pure stat case on tonight's board. Amoore averages 6.0 points in 22.8 minutes per ESPN, so the line sits a point and a half above her season rate, and the de-vigged market prices the Under at -137. HardRock sells it at -125, twelve cents of overlay on a bet that only needs an ordinary night from a guard whose scoring load is capped by her role. The risk is the same one every Under on a modest-minutes player carries: a blowout in either direction stretches garbage-time minutes, and ten fourth-quarter minutes of open floor is how a 6-point scorer finds 9. Tuesday's ten-point margin says these teams may not produce that script twice. Half-size at -125 or better.
Michaela Onyenwere Under 2.5 rebounds, -130 (Bet365), fair -136, +2.0%. Priced under her 2.9 season average, and the market still favors the Under, which tells you the books are reading something beyond her season row. She has spent stretches of this season on Washington's report for left knee management; tonight's report is clean, so treat this as a thin market read, not a confirmed minutes angle. Six cents of overlay does not close that gap on its own. Shop-only, and confirm her role before you touch it.
Sonia Citron Under 3.5 rebounds, +100 (Bet365), fair -102, +1.0%. The thinnest row tonight, on a 33-minute-a-night starter. Citron pulls 3.7 boards a game, the line sits just below that season rate, and fair calls it a -102 coin flip. Even money on a true coin flip is two cents of value, which is to say it is the listed price or it is nothing. I am printing it so you know I saw it.
The read on this game: three rows, one idea. Washington's secondary scoring workloads are capped and priced generously anyway, so Amoore's points Under carries the value, Onyenwere's boards need an active-and-normal-minutes confirmation, and Citron's row is a coin flip you only take at even money. Nothing here earns more than half-size.
Now the postscript I promised. Yesterday's column graded Kelsey Plum Over 13.5 points at +105 on HardRock, a +9.5% edge, the widest number in its whole capture, and the argument was never subtle: the market was pricing Thursday off her 17-minute return from a calf injury, the minutes were the whole thesis, and the window would close the moment the news moved. It closed. This afternoon's board came back with no Plum row that clears fair, at any line, and she is listed questionable for tonight with the same left leg that caused the absence in the first place. If you bet the number yesterday at +105, you hold a position the market no longer offers, and tonight's report is the risk you were paid twenty cents to carry; if she sits, most books void the prop, and if she plays limited, that is the losing branch of a bet that was +EV when you made it. The same ruling covers yesterday's two satellite rows, the higher alternate points line and the threes Over: a sit voids them, and a minutes leash hurts them even harder than the 13.5. Anyone who waited for confirmation has nothing to bet, and that is the point. Edges on injury-return props are rented by the hour, and this board just showed you the eviction. That is not a story I tell to celebrate a prediction; the bet has not won or lost anything yet. It is the cleanest live demonstration of why this column keeps saying early or never, and it is why the two Friday rows at the bottom of tonight's board get named and not chased.
The Full Board, Graded (Plus Two Friday Rows)
Every number from this afternoon's capture that cleared fair, sorted by edge within each game. Twelve rows, three games, four books, and the two Friday rows, from Portland Fire at Atlanta Dream, are marked because tipping tomorrow means you have a full day of injury-report risk between you and the window. Confirm each price live before you act; on several of these, a few cents is the entire pick.

| Fire @ Dream, Fri 7:30 | Jordin Canada Under 7.5 ast | -110 (FanDuel) | -113 | +1.3% | Friday row, no rush |
The row worth narrating is the contrast between the two Friday entries and yesterday's Plum. Carleton's threes Under and Canada's assists Under grade +1.8% and +1.3%, thin enough that a full day of line movement and injury reports is more likely to hurt you than help you; there is no timing premium to collect, so they wait for tomorrow's edition. Plum's Over graded +9.5% with a thesis that expired on contact with the next report, and it got bet, or it got missed. The size of the edge is what tells you whether early is worth the risk, and neither Friday row is in that class.
The game lines both grade the same way, so I will do them in one pass. Valkyries at Liberty, 8:00. Golden State sits second in the league, New York is fighting for its seed in a race the playoff picture piece walks through, and on a Prime Video national broadcast with both books and bettors watching, nothing on the moneyline, spread, or total cleared our board. Pass. Mystics at Mercury, 10:00. A rematch of Tuesday's 94-84 Washington win, with Phoenix's pricing complicated by Plum's status, and still nothing cleared fair. Pass. Two games, two full passes on the sides, and every documented dollar of value on this card is in the player markets.
How To Bet A Board Like This
Ten live rows tonight, two parked for Friday, and a lead edge that is a coin flip wearing a dog price. The discipline for this exact card:
- Ionescu Under 4.5 Assists Is The Only Full Ticket, At +122 Or Better. It is a 47.6% proposition being paid like a 45.0% one. If FanDuel drifts to even money, the overlay is the vig and the bet is gone.
- Thornton's Rebounds And Amoore's Points Get Half. One is a rotation-depth read on a 24-minute player whose boards run into Jonquel Jones, the other is a line sitting a point and a half above a 6.0-a-game scorer's season rate. Both fair prices already account for the story; the overlay is the bet, not the narrative.
- Everything Else Is The Listed Price Or Nothing. Fiebich, Jones, Johannès, Thornton's points, Stokes, Onyenwere, and Citron are shop-only rows, Fiebich because her return form argues loudly against the market's read. If your book shows a worse number, there is no bet.
- Cap Exposure Per Game, Not Per Row. The six early-game rows below the lead are two reads bought six times: Golden State's depth capping Thornton and Stokes, and a market fade of Liberty three-point volume on Fiebich, Jones, and Johannès. Stack them and you are making the same two bets over and over, not six independent ones. One unit across the cluster, weighted to the top, keeps bankroll exposure where it belongs on a small-edge night, the same treatment yesterday's board got.
- Leave The Friday Rows For Friday. At +1.8% and +1.3% there is no timing premium worth a day of report risk. That is the Plum lesson applied in reverse.
- Price Any Parlay Before You Place It. Nine same-direction Unders look like a ready-made ticket and price like a trap, as I laid out in my WNBA parlay piece. Run any build through the parlay builder so the combined ticket gets the same fair-value test as the singles, and compare the shape against the latest parlay of the day before you copy either. When my own card has plays on it, it lives with the free expert picks on Tails, at my page.
The honest read on August 27 is that this is the Thursday the market got there first. Yesterday's board carried one number worth sprinting to and nine worth walking to; the sprint number is gone today, exactly as advertised, and what remains is a card of small overlays on a night everyone is watching. Ionescu's assists Under is the best thing you can bet tonight, and it is dog money on a side the market itself calls a near coin flip, which is what most real edges look like by late August. Golden State closes its back-to-back, Washington tries to take a second straight game in Phoenix off a Mercury backcourt still waiting on Plum's status, and Friday brings a four-game board with two thin rows already priced. Tomorrow's edition will tell you whether the market left anything on it worth more than a walk.

FAQ
What are the best WNBA bets today, August 27? Sabrina Ionescu Under 4.5 assists at +122 on FanDuel, against a de-vigged fair price of +110, is the widest edge on tonight's board at +5.7%, in the Valkyries-Liberty game at 8:00 p.m. ET. Kayla Thornton Under 4.5 rebounds at -130 on Bet365 (fair -143, +4.1%) in the same game, and Georgia Amoore Under 7.5 points at -125 on HardRock (fair -137, +4.0%) in Mystics-Mercury, are next. Ten props cleared fair across the two games, nine Unders and one Over, and no game line cleared in either.
Is Sabrina Ionescu playing tonight against the Valkyries? She is not on the Liberty's injury report for tonight; the only New York name listed on ESPN's report is Satou Sabally, who is out. If Ionescu were a late scratch, an assists prop would void at most books rather than lose, but the bet as priced assumes she plays. Her foot trouble earlier this season is background, not a current listing.
What happened to the Kelsey Plum Over from yesterday's column? It closed, on schedule. Yesterday's edition flagged Plum Over 13.5 points at +105 on HardRock as a bet you make early or not at all, because the market was still pricing her Tuesday 17-minute return. Today's capture has no Plum row that clears fair, and she is listed as questionable with a lower left leg injury for tonight. If you bet it yesterday, you own a number the market no longer sells; if you waited, the honest answer is you pass.
Why are nine of tonight's ten bets Unders? Because that is where the cheap prices pooled. Golden State just won by 25 in Connecticut after leading 55-27 at the half, and its depth means no one player has to carry the counting stats. Lines like Georgia Amoore's 7.5 points also sit well above her 6.0 season average. Our de-vig strips the vig from both sides of every market and points at the side priced below its consensus probability; tonight that side came back Under nine times and Over once, on Kiah Stokes.
Why did no game line make the card? The second-place Valkyries visit a Liberty team fighting for seeding on a national broadcast, and Mystics-Mercury is the second meeting in Phoenix in three days, a game Washington just took 94-84. Books have both games priced tightly enough that no moneyline, spread, or total surfaced as a takeable number on our board. Passes are part of the card; every documented dollar of value tonight is in the player markets.
How should I size bets on a card like this? Small everywhere. The widest edge tonight is +5.7% on a near coin-flip line, so Ionescu's assists Under earns one small ticket at +122 or better. Thornton's rebounds and Amoore's points get half-size. Everything else is the exact listed price or nothing, including Fiebich's threes, and the two Friday rows at the bottom of the board are thin enough that there is no reason to bet them a day early. Nothing on a board like this earns more than a small limit, and most of it earns less.
