Before Sunday's kickoff in Dallas it was 23. By the time the 37-20 loss was over it had traded 3. Washington is 0-2, Daniels dislocated the same left elbow he dislocated last November, and Dan Quinn confirmed Monday afternoon that Marcus Mariota starts against the Seahawks on Sunday while Daniels sees specialists this week.
The Read
I'm not going to dress this up. An 0-2 team that just lost its quarterback for a month is a long shot, and the exchange has it priced like one. Where I'd push back is the size of the drop. This was a 23-cent team with Daniels, the sportsbooks still have Washington at +550 to make it, which is about 15%, and the last time Daniels went through this exact injury he was back in a month. Monday's imaging didn't settle it. Daniels is seeing specialists this week and Quinn says there is no timeline yet. If the specialists say what they said last year, no surgery and no ligament damage, this is the cheapest playoff contract on the exchange with a real quarterback coming back in November.

The playoff contract pays if Washington is one of the 14 teams in the field, and it settles after Week 18 ends on January 10. The division on the same contract Monday afternoon: Eagles 77 cents, Cowboys 48, Giants 46, Commanders 8. The sportsbooks are at +550 to make the playoffs, and the gap between 15% at the book and 8% on the exchange is the whole article.
The Last Play Of The First Half
Washington came into Dallas at 0-1. On the last snap of the first half Daniels got his feet tangled with center Chris Paul, stumbled, and put his left arm down to catch himself. The elbow bent the wrong way, and the cart came out. Rachaad White afterward: "I tried to control my emotions, but I had tears coming down."
Daniels was 11 of 17 for 96 yards and a touchdown and had run seven times for 69 yards before the break. Mariota went 11 of 16 for 111 yards and a score in the second half, and Dallas pulled away 37-20.
The playoff contract was 23 cents at kickoff. It traded 18 during the game and 3 after it. Three cents was the panic low, sold while Daniels was still on the cart and before anybody knew it wasn't broken.
What We Know About The Elbow
Dan Quinn after the game: "Man, are we bummed for him. I thought he was really playing his ass off. And we will rally so hard around Marcus until Jayden is back." Monday afternoon Quinn said Daniels had his imaging, will consult with specialists in the coming days, and has no timeline yet. The team is deferring to the specialists. Asked whether Daniels plays again this season, Quinn said he has had no reason to think otherwise.
The history is the problem. Daniels dislocated the same left elbow on November 2 last year against Seattle. That time there was no surgery and no ligament damage. He missed three games, came back in December at Minnesota, hurt it again that day, and that was his season. So the elbow that just went out is the one that went out twice in six weeks last winter. It is his non-throwing arm, which is the only good news in the paragraph. Chicago went through its own version of this Sunday, and the Bears' playoff price is already climbing back.
What You Get With Mariota
Washington saw plenty of Marcus Mariota last year. He threw for 1,632 yards, 10 touchdowns and six picks in 2025, and the Commanders went 2-6 in the games where he took most of the snaps.
What he's replacing is a quarterback who had thrown three touchdowns without a pick through six quarters this year. Daniels was 2 cents to win MVP before this. He's a penny now.
The Schedule While He's Out
Four games before the Week 7 bye, and the Seahawks line is the only one posted.

If this goes like last year, Mariota gets Seattle, the Colts in London, the Giants and the 49ers, and Daniels comes back off the bye for Philadelphia on November 1. A month of Mariota against that schedule probably lands Washington somewhere between 1-5 and 2-4. Then you have 11 games of Daniels to get to nine or ten wins. Handing four games to Mariota costs about a win, and a win off a 23-cent playoff team lands you in the low teens. Part of the drop is a month of Mariota, and that part is real. The rest is everybody selling at the same time after a scary injury. If the specialists clear him the way they did last year, the price should settle closer to the books' 15%. If they start 1-5, it won't matter what the specialists said.
What Moves The Price From Here
- The specialists' verdict this week. No surgery and no ligament damage, like last year, and this contract has room to climb back toward 12. Anything worse than last year, or an IR stint, and 8 becomes generous.
- Seahawks at Commanders, Sunday. Washington +6.5 at home with Mariota. Win that game and 0-2 becomes 1-2 with a division game two weeks out. Lose it and the season is 0-3 with a trip to London next.
- Eagles at Commanders, November 1. If Daniels is back for that game, the price moves before it kicks. If he isn't, this is a lottery ticket.
Bottom Line
Eight cents says an 8% chance Washington makes the playoffs. The sportsbooks say 15%. The same team was 23 cents Sunday morning, and what changed is a month of Marcus Mariota. If the specialists clear him the way they did last November, the exchange is the cheap side of that gap, and 10 cents buys a team that gets its quarterback back for 11 games.
